I'm doing Zithro and Omnicef and wanted to go on Diflucan once a week because Nystatin and Acidophillus aren't working well enough on keeping the yeast back, but my LLMD said there can be an interaction between the Diflucan and the Zithro. Yet the PA in his office rx'd the same two for a friend of mine. Wasn't able to find anything out about this on the web, anyone else heard of this?

Zithromax and Dificuan use the sane P-450 Cytochrome pathway and can cause drug toxicity in some. Each individual metabolizes medications depending on the pathways in the liver, some are poor metabolizers others are fast metabolizers........medications using the same pathways are more likely to cause a drug to drug interaction.you have a very alert doctor.I wish we had a doctor as informed.
