Continuous, splitting headaches
Swollen neck glands
Sore throat
Insomnia
Nausea
Anxiety, low impulse control

The best treatment right now seems to be rifampin or levaquin mixed with a Lyme abx. If you think you have bartonella, and you have the time and money to go through a major herx reaction, then hit this one hard and get it over with.

I have been on doxi for 3 weeks and the only sxs I have had is 3 days of sore throat, a 3 day headache and swollen neck glands. I added rifampin 3 days ago. How much of each would you consider a bacteriatoxic dose, but not harmful to me? I am on 300 mg of doxi and 300 mg of rifampin. Thanks.

Liz,

Did you do Rifampin or Levaquin for Bart and how long was the treatment for.

I tried Levaquin last year and it was an unpleasant experience, what's it like on Rifampin, do you know?

Can't write long.

Levaquin removed bart symptoms but was brutal with side effects, and was too strong to take with other abx.

I literally have to be on rifampin now, as the bart is out of control, but must remain on other abx at the same time. In other words, I have to take a gamble. As some people do with mino, I started on very low doses, and am steadily increasing the dose. It works quite well so far, but has strong side effects at the regular dose.

It seems like every effective abx that can reach these bugs also destabilizes the nervous system.

I was symptom-free for bart for 40 days on levaquin. When I stopped taking it, the bart returned in less than a week, and the Lyme also came back full force. I'm just praying that the babesia treatment is actually working, so that if I can make it through the next six months, I'll only have two bugs left to take care of.
