I ws bitten sometime in the last 24 hours by two nymphs. I did a bad job taking the second one off (found it in the shower and didn't know it was tick) and had to get the mouthparts out separately.
I am already really sick. I got sick very fast 5 years ago, too. I am experiencing the prickly paresthesias I originally had, all over my body, major chills, fluish, headache.
I am on zithromax, minocycline and amantadine and wouldn't expect to get sick like this. Any advice?
I've emailed and called Dr. D but as everyone knows, he is not that accessible at times. Local MD wouldn't be much help, but I'lll probably call there anyway.

So your symptoms escalated immediately? Yikes. It might be best to get some doxy, as that is what drs prescribe to make sure ehrlichiosis is covered.
I'm not sure zith or mino works on that....?
Good luck. I was bitten 2 1/2 wks ago. Waiting on test results from Igenex. You can send the ticks off to be tested. But maybe you already know you're reinfected?

Thanks Lymetoo...There is a typo in my post, I was bitten twice w/in 24 hours, not 2. Yesterday I had chills, silght fever and heightened neuro symptoms. Today these are gone. Maybe I had a reaction to some of the toxins ticks secrete (just read about this, and would explain the quickness of the reaction) rather than becoming reinfected.
A public health nurse said that mino and zithro would cover me for Lyme and erlichia, but obviously not for babesia. My primary care MD's nurse referred me (once again) to a rheumatologist ofr my "lupus." Since I was obviously sick yesterday, she said it was a lupus flare from the sun...
I am very concerned about this mysterious appearance of ticks on me. I am very worried bout my kids, one of whom is just seeing the light after 4 years of illness. No family could be more careful than we are, and we avoid anything green at all times!
Good luck with your test results. Did you have a previous positive Igenex test? I hope the bite you got turns out to be benign. Thanks again.

Do you have a dog? Are there mice in the house? Were tick eggs laid indoors? I am assuming you found these before they found you...
I just cut our dog's hair so short it's as if her were shaved, and found 3 dead ticks of assorted sizes. This dog only goes on pavement and is never loose, but still is bringing ticks into the house. Obviously, they are then jumping onto me, probably at night. The tick checks I've been doing on him have not done the trick, that's for sure.
I'm fantasizing about a great new invention: indoor litter boxes for dogs!
Don't know if this would work for you - my 7 pound maltese uses weewee pads in-doors. I'm not able to walk him and have no yard. It works really well for us.
Never seen a tick on him, but I have seen a couple of fleas so he gets treated now as well. He walks on pavement when we run errands.
What state do you live in and is it country or city where you are?

Those Nymphs are the worst! Those suckers are so sneaky they hide in your hair.
I got Babs from nymphs and didn't make any progress until I added Mepron to my abx combos.
Can you page your LLMD for advice?
