How is the best way to keep regular on a Candida diet? I've always had a problem in that "area", and do take a stool softener at night plus Metamucil or something similar during the day.
Before Lyme, I always ate lots of high fiber cereal at AM, but now....
It's really hard to not eat lots of fiber, and most fiber is complex carbs. Veggies don't seem to work in that "area" too well for me, although, I pig-out on them anyway.
Besides exercise, flaxseed, stool softener, lots magnesium along with lots of calcium (I can't quit the calcium), veggies, and prune juice, which all have been used in the past at different times...what am I missing?

Well, I got no answers for yoy but I am on the same boat.
I am sure somebody will come up with some ideas. I am taking 1/2 cup of senna tea every other day, but I know senna can irritate your intestines, so this is not a solution but a quick bandaid.
Gosh, I forgot all about Nature's Secret...if I remember right, is that one you suggested? Is it a laxative, herb, supplement? I can't remember. But, I have an excuse...Lyme!!!
You know, increasing the stool softener might work. I only take one at dinner, so I might give that a try.
Complex carbs such as high fiber cereal, good grains, etc. help, but I'm trying to stay clear of all that, and of course, sugar, especially with rifing to start, hopefully, in late summer.
Different things seem to work for a while, then my body gets used to it, I guess, and it doesn't seem to have the same effect.
I already take 4 citrate magnesium caps, 200 mg and 2 malates (I think it's about 100 mg ea) every day as it is. But, then, with osteoporosis, I take a lot of calcium, 1200 mg daily. My pill drawer sags...sigh!
According to Bryan's book, we especially should stay away from any kind of sugar/carbs (actually, I think it said easy on the carbs like fruits, etc) while rifing to get the best results, so...I'm tryin', I'm tryin'...hard that it is.
lymster,
I feel for you...I'm there and know how tough it is.
Some people never have a problem in that area. I've never been that lucky...but, senna tea scares me, so I've stayed clear of that; although, I've heard it works, also.
Thanks all.

Nature's Secret Multi-Fiber. It's a combination of natural stuff and fiber too to keep things moving along! I just take one a day and sometimes have to skip a day. Love it!

Cascara Sagrada Bark, Cayenne, Turkey Rhubarb blends work great..
No Senna..
The above three strengthen your intestinal muscles, rather that act as laxative.. laxatives of any sort shouldn't be used long term because your intestinal muscles become dependant and weak.
Mg and C I feel are great for our bodies, but not in excess as then they act as laxatives.
Oils are good, too..and fiberous fruits and veggies and lots of water..and probiotics.
If you're not going once for each meal, you're constipated!
Also helps not to eat breakfast till you've voided last night's dinner.
It's talen me four months and counting of intensive cleansing and I'm still not working right as abx did a serious number on my gut even tho I didn't have glaring signs and took precautions, but the above things are improving intestines steadily. (in addition to the cleansing efforts)

As a former massage therapy student I can't say enough about the lower back massage when combined with a sacrum massage and release...alot of the nerves that affect the lower intestines come from there and when they are stimualted manually...well...things get moving. (AT least they did for me!)

PS...Mo's uggestion was a very good one...as were others, but I can see where the long term effects are not being addressed otherwise...good call MO.

Wonderful responses! Thanks very much. I now have things to try I never thought of.
Mo,
I can't imagine people "going" once for each meal. I don't think that will ever happen to me given my current state.
I did like your response about Cascara Sagrada, Cayenne and Turkey Rhubarb blends due to the fact they strengthen the muscles instead of just working as a laxative. Makes sense.
Where have you found to be the best online site to buy those items, as I would really like to give that a try?
I think abx did my current digestive and intestinal state a big disservice, and I really do need to fix that if I can.
Also, what cleanses do you use that really work? I've used detoxes before, but is that the same as cleanses? I really don't know. I've used RenewLife detoxes, but it's been a while.
