Hi guys. Im back from my surgery. It went really, really well! The surgeon came and talked to me afterwards too. Turns out I made the best decision.
Even though the ultrasounds and such were normal (hida scan was the only thing abnormal), my gallbladder looked awful!! He told me I had adhesions forming in the abdominal cavity, that the GB was very discolored and lots of sludge.
I want to thank you all for your support and encouragement with this surgery. I am having a bile sample sent to Igenx to test of Lyme in my bile system.

I am so happy to hear your sugury went well and it looks to be a really good decison!
hope you are feeling better soon and the pain level isn't too bad.

Congrads, big time Nal!!! I know its so soon but anxious to hear IF you feel better ,,,whenever it happens!! Specially if it fixes some of your gastric duress,, sooooo lettuce know(to borrow a phrase from our most famous member!!)

I'm really glad the surgery went well.
Hopefully, you're going to be able to take it easy for awhile.

Thanks for posting, Nancy - sounds like you did the right thing having the surgery.
And it was VERY sharp of you to get that sample out to Igenex - excellent thinking!
Hope your recovery goes as well as your surgery. I'm sure you are glad it is finally over.

You guys are the best!!! Im in so much pain today though-ugh!! Oh well. It will get better over time I hope. Any advice on how to heal from this thing is greatly appreciated!

FANTASTIC.
What sort of pain are you in? Stay on the pain relievers and make sure to tale stool softeners and psyllium. I usually switch to advil a few days after surgery as it is more helpful for pain for me and also decreases the swelling.
I am glad you are feeling good about your decision! may the healing begin!

Well today I feel really groggy and very weak. Im not having any trouble eating or anything so at least that is good.
i took a shower this morning and that totally wore me out. Im having some muscle and joint pain today too and that could be a small herx from the antibiotics they gave me in the hospital?
All in all, still recovering steady. In some ways I feel better than I expected to so I am really happy.

general anasthesia can make you feel really wierd for a VERY long time. Some people say it takes a full year to recover from it. I dont think that is true, but it does take many months before you look back and say---wow that was the anasthesia still wearing off---intense.

Good to hear things went well... You may be tired for awhile, but I'm sure the benefits will defenitely shine through.
One thing to watch out for...
I just started getting this intense burning pain right under one of my scars. It would only last for a second at a time, and would just happen. I went in yesterday to get things checked out because we were afraid the clip they used to clip things together in my GB surgery (in June of this year) had come off, or something else potentially life-threatening.
Turns out, I have a neuroma. My nerves in one of the incision points are misfiring. No surgery is needed, in fact all I did was up my dose of Neurontin and it hasn't happened again, but it was pretty scary. So, if it happens to you, don't freak out like I did. Just contact your general surgeon, and they can give you a solution.
