When I was on IV Rocephin, Dr. H. prescribed Actigall. I'd say better safe than sorry. I was on the IV (and Actigall) for 7 weeks and had no problems with my gall bladder.

I've been on actigall or Ursodiol for the same period of time as I've been on Rocephin (just completed my sixth month).
My GI Dr. even upped the dose that my lyme Dr. had me on. I was on 600mg and upped it to 800mg.Unfortunately I am having my gallbladder out tomorrow morning.
I've been told that it is supposed to help. I do know that the gallbladder problem is directly a result of the Rocephin.

I agree, it is very important to take Actigall while on IV Cef!!
Almost 2 years ago, I did just over 5 wks IV Cef, just 2g/day, 5 days per week. I had this done in Germany, and asked if they would give me Actigall - but it's not routine there! So, weeks 5 and 6, I had horrific colic attacks, really really bad, so stopped treatment. Ultrasound showed sludge and gallstones. Had this repeated over 3 weeks after stopping, and sludge and stones still present.
I then did a flush, with olive oil and lemon juice - not pleasant! Had to wait a few months after this for my next ultrasound, and it was clear. Maybe the flush worked.., or maybe it just dissolved itself......but it's definitely better to take Actigall in the first place and not have the gallbladder worries.
