Hello All.
I started 200mg/day of Doxy last Tuesday. Since that time, I have been having severe headaches approx. 2 times every day. The only last 30 minutes to 2 hours, but are pretty strong. Is this, most likely, some kind of herx reaction or could it be an allergic reaction to the Doxy?

Thank you!

This happened to me as well.

Have you called your doc? That's what I did as the pain was so alarming.

He said it was not the doxycycline causing it but a herx.

Best to call your doc, though, to be sure.

Hate to say it, but sounds like the doxycycline is doing its job!

Killing spirochetes...dead bacteria creating toxins...inflammation...= headache.

I am in second month of treatment. First month was Doxy 200 mg/2x a day; horrible headaches intermittmently but got better after a week or so.

Second month (i.e., right now) Amoxicillin 3000 mg/day + probenecid 1500 mg/day = 15 days straight of exploding headache from hell.

The good news is that like many of you reassured me, it DOES let up, thank God, though still lurks and gives the occasional band of pain/pressure.

Hang in there and feel reassured the Doxy is killing critters.

And watch out for sun, ANY sun!!!

Great! I'm glad to hear that it may be working! Thank you for your posts - it's a relief to know that other people have had the same kind of thing. BTW, the doctor also thought that it may be a herx reaction and said to give it some time.

Thanks again!
