thanks to those of you that responded to my post re night sweats..I will pursue the possibility of having babesiosis..within the past six months I had Lab Corp IgG and IgM Western Blot and Imugen Diagnostic Division in Norwood, MA do a Immunoblot (IgG) and an Antibody Capture Enzyme Immunossay tests and they were all negative for active lyme..this was after a year of anti-biotics from doxycycline to zithromax to finally IV pick line for four weeks..what further tests can i get to determine if I have babesiosis..most recent CBC indicates every thing is normal except for slight elevation of Eosinophils level which could mean an infection is still present..mu doctor hasn't been able to give me any new directions..thanks again

Are you seeing an LLMD for your lyme treatment? Most LLMD's don't use LabCorp and most go by symptoms, not tests to determine how their patients are doing.

All you have to do is take meds for babs and see how you react to them. If you herx, then continue treatment.

The best tests for babs would be from Igenex labs in CA or Bowen in FL. Both still have plenty of false negatives.

With Bowen, you get actual pics of the bacteria or protozoa in your blood. A CBC won't reveal much.

Have you been anemic? That would be one indication on a CBC. I think there are others, but I'm not sure which ones right now. Lyme brain here!

fstorey,

I am so fortunate that my lyme was diagnosed clinically. Even in 96 I went to see a friend (PsychMD and lymeliterate) and just telling her she continued abx treatment. She also referred me to the llmd I see now.

Have you every tried an abx combo? Did this year of treatment improve anything?

Are you kind of expecting the bacteria/virus to go away or just the symptoms?

I have noticed a lot of improvement since starting combo in May.

Trust your feelings on this. It's how you feel during the treatment, if there is any improvement, if you're herxing, etc... your symptoms and results are clinical proof.

I have NEVER tested positive in the past 9 years... for anything including coinfection.

Lisa
