Last night I got bit by a spider it appeared to be a wolf spider. It swelled up and was sensitive to touch and it itched. I went to the er they gave me vistaril and a topical hydrocortisone. My question is can I take these with Lyme with no problems.

You're probably safe with topical steroids...as they don't seem to bother we lymies that I'm aware of...never bothered me...
the other deal is I believe something to calm you down...(shot form)??
It actually made me more irritable when they shot it into me after surgery....
don't know if that's because of lyme or not but seems like a lot of supposed drugs that were given to me to calm me down had the reverse affect........either lyme or my genetics......zman

You should be able to call the pharmacy.. a 24 hour one.. and see if they have any reactions with the meds you may be on. Sorry I am not familiar with the meds you describe.
I did want to mention... after many spider bites.. I found that the worst of the symptoms don't always hit immediately.
The black widow seemed to hit the quickest.. vomitting and sick pretty fast... and better rather quickly too... but the others were more drawn out and slower to get nasty.
Last bad ones I got.. two bad ones in 10 months... made me hallucinate and get foamy urine (like I was spilling out bath bubbles).. and lots of weird things were going on.. as well as the blisteing looking mess that appeared and pitting of the tissue around the bite site.
I found the thing that helped the most was doxycycline. I didn't take it the first time and did the second. BIG difference.
Also I buy a homemade preparation from a store that beats all. If you would like some.. send me your address and I will get some to you. I have had LOTS of "attacks" by bugs/animals.. and it always has helped.. and it did especially well on my bite site... to keep it from being nasty and the skin from blackening and sluffing off.
Both of the bites were brown recluse bites though.. so you hopefully will be lucky??
But other spiders can be wicked too... so you need to be careful.

No, this will make two bites one a little over two years ago and this one. I think they were wolf spiders got a good look at the first one he was gray with black stripes. THe second one I didn't get a good look at it was at night in bed. The next day hunting I found a large brown carolina wolf spider in the room.
After the first bite I didn't really have any symptoms the bite turned red and a crater the size of a dime formed not too deep took about 3-4 weeks but finally healed. THis bite is worse it doesn't look bad after 4 days no bullseye, no black marks, but I have been feeling awful; fatigue, muscle pain, sweating, high bp, dizzy. I wonder if the first bite wasn't so bad because I wasn't dx with Lyme yet (my immune system was better) that was about 2-3 months after the bite. Wonder if there was a connection.

I am not sure if it was a wolf spider that bit me. I killed one the day after my bite in the bedroom. I do see wolf spiders and the family lycosa (which I have) have been know to cause bad bites. Yesterday, I found a dead brown recluse on the floor next to the couch yesterday. For years I have used a product called Demon XP or WP and sprayed it myself. I never have had a problem with spiders, but this year is bad. Orkin will be here today.
It has been almost 5 days since the bite and the area looks good no bigger than a pencil eraser and no necrosis. I think I got a systematic bite. I have read that the bites that don't necrotize go system wide quickly so the poison doesn't stay in one place and rot the tissue. Damn this thing packs a punch. I was bed ridden for three days, tired, muscle aches, eye pain, dizziness, sweats, high bp, still not 100% but better. Hopefully the spider venom is whipping the $#%& out of my bacteria load.
