I just started Levaquin for Bartonella plus Pantoprazole. Dr says most Lymies have Bart.

So, I started the meds. I feel a little dizzy and drowsy so far. Anyone else on this combo?

I'll get tested probably through IGenex next week to be sure...just to ease my mind.

Yes I've been in this combo for 3 months now.
At the beginning is hard ,later on you'll feel better....

Lymeblue,
Thanks for your reply. Did you do a Bartonella test to find out if you have it? Which one?

What symptoms did you feel at first? How long was it bad? Now, what's better?

Thanks soooo very much- I'm just hoping for a brighter day ahead...

I was tested twice and was negative but I still was ill, after treating babesia and ehrcichia too. So i started the bartonella protocol and definitely the improvement is way significant. I will stop abx in 2 months after this lyme-journey.Me and my LLMD highly suspect that my lyme bacteria itself is in remission and we just have to get rid of bart.

Lisa,

My doctor spoke with Dr. B in Long Island and he told him that the majority of Lyme infected people have Bart.

I read somewhere that 92% of Lymies have it. From what I read, symptoms are very similar to Lyme and difficult to distinguish between the two. I can't say I have particular symptoms. My sx match Babesia more, but I came back negative twice.

So, the doc advised to take these meds along with doxy. I'm on day 2.

Sorry I didn't realize what you meant...

Overall, my most yucky symptoms are balance problems, weakness in legs (especially left), and ankle twitching.

Mostly the weakness and balance are the problems for me right now because walking is a big challenge.

Hope this helps!

Hi Lisa -

I have just started (I think for the 3rd time) levaquin for bartonella. Two weeks now and still feeling icky right after I take it.

I have tested positive for bartonella for two years, had a few months of negs and then just had a higher positive test than ever before.

Everybody experiences symptoms, medications, combos differently. But for me bartonella causes the following:

Fever
Muscle aches
headaches
cognitive problems
emotional outbursts/depression/rage
GI problems
insomnia
word recall problems
disorientation
vertigo

and the beat goes on....

There are several lists of bart symptoms threads, but the search button never seems to work.

I recommend you post bartonella symptoms and you will get a lot of information.

You can email me if you like, hang in there...it all gets worse before it we better.

Lymeblue, Does your Dr say that it is OK to take Glucosamine/Chondroitin to help with the tendon problems that Levaquin causes? I read an old post from TXLM where she says that Cosamin by Nutramax does a good job of preventing tendon problems while on quinolones. She says not to substitute because nothing compares. It's expensive tho, $65 at Costco. I know that mag/cal has to be avoided, but what about these? What does Dr B say?

I would like to know if Cosamin interferes with Levaquin also. Does anyone know?

I'm taking 500mg Levaquin and 20mg Pantoprazole (apprantly this works with the Levaquin). Both are just once a day.
