Good Morning ALL,

I had my first Bi-cillin injection 5 days ago. Day #4 I had head and lung congestion. Symptoms continue today.

There always seems to be the question, is it a yeast flare-up or is it a herx?

I'm doing Nystatin and Diflucan, good oral hygiene with household grade H202, Primal Defense and goat yogurt.

I'm very nervous due to the surgery last month when I lost my ascending colon.

Gut protection is a must.

Any ideas?

I would suspect a herx as the cause since it hit you on day 4. That's pretty typical.

The fact that you seem to be well covered on yeast meds would also indicate you're ok there. So as long as your diet is good too, I would think it's a herx.

But I've been known to be wrong before!

I started IM Bicillin, twice a week, 3 weeks ago. I also take ketek, 800 mg/d and nystatin. I had been on orals for 8 months prior to this.

I herx about 24 -30 hrs after the injection for a day or two. Extra tired, achy, discouraged.

With IM Bicillin yeast problems are minimal, according to a power point presentation by Dr J B at www.lymepa.org

Maybe you have a cold?

I just finished 10 months of bicillin. The first two weeks I herxed and herxed, and finally called my LLMD to see if I was dying..well having an allergic reaction.

Some people really react to the first couple shots, others don't. But it sounds like a herx to me but I am no doc just a patient

The similar thing was congestion in the chest, I had to use my inhaler which I am loathe to do.

Hang on it does get better, I improved a lot on bicillin.
