Had to stop I was feelng so toxic ............. and emotionally enraged/drained/despondent.
I am feeling better brain wise ...... could physical symptoms be coming back so soon or am I just paronoid? My syptoms never completly resolved, but I still feel like I needed to stop after a year and 4 months straight.
I see my LLMD in a couple of weeks and plan on staying pff until at least that time.

I've been going almost 3 years straight.
Taken small breaks...they never were gone...the symptoms....I learned to do liver flushes, ect instead.

Hi Robi
I just saw my LLMD on Tuesday. I have been treating for yeast with Diflucan over the last 6 weeks. Since I last saw him I haved been herxing pretty bad on the Diflucan alone. I tried to tough it out for the first 2 1/2 weeks, but it got so bad that I couldn't even drive. Nearly ran 2 people over. Scared the crud out of me. I felt so toxic, especially in my brain.
I stopped the Diflucan, just couldn't do it. Then a couple of weeks later I tried again. This time was better, but the herxing in my feet was the problem. After about 2 weeks it got so bad I couldn't hardly walk so I stopped again.
When I told my doc, he said, "why didn't you call me"? He then totally changed everything around. Lowered the Diflucan even lower, but I'm not to even try it unless, I can be comfortable with the Cortef I'm starting at very low doses, the additional magnesium in the form of a powder, the multi vitamin, and the fish oil. The later 2 make me get muscle cramps right off. Then I am to take the Diflucan as tolerated, stopping if I have to. He does NOT believe "pain means gain". Sure we are going to herx likely, but it doesn't have to look like a train wreck.
I haven't even gotten to the ABX again. Can you believe all of this and I generally feel in 95% remission?
In my experience, taking a break and letting the body recover seems to be a good thing. It often seems that in my case, my body goes on repairing things even after I stop treatment. After a break, back to work I go. When I can get to a full dose of Diflucan and ABX, without herxing, I'll know I am finished.....for now.
Give your body a rest. It might even surprise you the subtle little positive changes that are there. There might even be some big changes, who knows.

Hi Robi. "Enraged, drained, despondent" sounds exactly like me on Ketek. Took 800 mg. for 3 weeks, then just had to stop. After 5 days started taking 400mg. Felt like you the first two weeks--very unlike me. Still giving me rotten headaches, tho. Tried adding half dose of Omnicef 2x/day and had to quit that too. Was getting totally drained of any energy or spirit. I will try starting that again in a few days.
I've been thru this scenario sooo many times. Usually if I stop for a while and start it again, my body seems to tolerate it. Hope so.
Crossing country to move I put myself on low dose of minocin and 2 doses of CSM and did better than I expected.
Just one more person's experiences.
Good luck. Take care.

I do feel better off than on for now..... still I am worried I am letting the bugs multiply but I guess they just don't move that fast. If they did we would be rid of this by now.
I am going to do several cleases in the nexr few weeks. Next month I hope to start a metal detox. If I can stay off abx for all of this I will be happy ..... not sure.
Thanks for the shared experiences.
Trout ..... how much longer do you think you will stay on without a break??

Just my story:
I feel I have wasted 7 1/2 years by never treating my LD properly, and as a result I now have an even steeper uphill battle.
The LLMD I am seeing now treats until all symptoms are gone. For me, that must be the case or I will never lick this thing.
Fortunately, I tolerate the meds well. Yes, I herx, but aside from missing a few days of work here and there because of weakness, I seem to be doing well.

Hi Robi
I have been taking Doxi for 2 years-- There has been several times I ran out of meds for a few days-- Each and every time this happened my symptoms came back hard in 2 days and I lost ground each time--
I was very suprised the germs could react this fast--but they did-- Made me realize just how nasty these germs are---Jay---

Robi,
I weaned off antibiotics in May after 9 months of use. I feel much better off the antibiotics than on them. I do take nystatin and diflucan for one more month.
I felt the time off helped my body kick in its natural immune system and helped me detoxify.
In August I started the vitamin C/salt protocol and did herx for awhile, but feel good again. I will ramp up slowly. I do rife, too.
Sometimes I think too many antibiotics or being on them too long can really mess the body up. I am not a doctor and I am not telling people what to do. I my case getting off them was the best decision I ever made in regards to lyme. Hiker
