He is in DelRio now and has been for a few years. He up and left his 800 plus patients high and dry in Houston.
He was until recently seeing patients in Del Rio, but has retired again after blowing two disks out in his back lifting weights.
He is still connected with that dr. who had ALS that was treated for lyme and got so much better he devoted the rest of his life to lyme. He is in Colorado somewhere, I think it's Denver. I don't know about dr H's reliability though.

I was one of those patients that he treated and was left without an LLMD. It's been over a year since I stopped treatment, and haven't seen a doctor since then. Even though I'm mostly "symptom free", I would like to follow up with another LLMD.
Ohhh well, I'll figure it out eventually. Thanks again!

He just up and left 800 patients high and dry? No referels no warning? and now he's in research? Hmm Sorry seems this guy was in it for nothing more than studying his patients and not helping them.. Any doctor who would do this is not a good doctor... What a shame...

Just my two cents...for what it is worth...
I can't judge this doctor. I can't imagine being an LLMD - the stress has got to be like a pressure cooker. Being any MD for that matter but especially an LLMD.
At this point in time while we know antibiotics can help and in some cases seemingly cure many believe for those that are chronic it is remission not necessarily a cure.
There is so much that is not known and it seems only a handful of researchers.
While it is ashame that many were left without an LLMD I can understand Dr. H's motivation to get into research.
Lets not forget too that at one point I believe he was diagnosed with Lyme and was feeling poorly. For all we know he started to relapse.
Just some points to ponder...
I hope he is still doing research.
I know my LLMD, while he is a idealist and wants to help everyone Lyme patient get better, is most definitely observing his patients and is into the research end of things too.
There are times I feel like a guinea pig and I talk to many others that are going to LLMDs and feel the same way. It would be impossible not to because at the moment treatment is pretty experimental and there is no sure thing....

Just a tidbit or two for those who may not know. There are only a handful of LLMD's in Texas, so there weren't too many options for Dr H's former patients.
Also....he's no spring chicken, either.
Texas needs to "grow" a few more LLMD'S, as the state is full of Lyme! Houston is a city of 3 million people, and there's not a single LLMD within 3 hours of the city!

I heard that he was 67 at the time of his retirement. It's not unusual for people to be retired at that age, especially if their health isn't the best.
The problem was not so much that this doc didn't make referrals (actually, his office did provide some names) but that there was really no one willing to take on lyme patients, including the names they gave out.
So now I drive 2 hours to Lufkin to see someone who may qualify as an "up and coming" LLMD. So far, so good.
