I would appreciate it if someone can enlighten me regarding this major problem I'm having. My neck is so inflamed especially in the center where the thyroid gland is and it burns all the time. Certain times the burning is severe and then my heart goes into an irregular rhythm. I have seen so many doctors for this-endocrinologist, surgeon, and the latest is the cardiologist who told me there is no heart connection between the neck and the heart. I looked at an anatomy chart and found this statement is inaccurate but how can I find out exactly what is going on so I can find the right medication for it? I walk around most of the time feeling like a golf ball is stuck in my throat. Thanks for your ideas.

Haven't found that cardiologists are particularly well versed in tickborne symptoms. Think you may be asking the wrong person for answers.

My experience with non-LLMD specialists is just to have them do their thing, characterize/document the condition, and not ask for explanations, treatments, etc. This is partly so ins. will have evidence and partly to make sure nothing missed, and also to determine aggressiveness of treatment.

All of those symptoms can be caused by lyme. So treatment for lyme is the answer (along with any co-infection treatment required).

Have you had your thyroid checked? Many of us are having to take thyroid meds.

The choking/difficulty swallowing symptom is pretty common in lyme. Caused by ketes in the nervous system. I am having this problem pretty bad right now and think my current treatment needs to be changed.

[Mad] I HATE that one way lots!!!

I think in my case, it seems Babs related cuz after the Mepron/Zith it has improved in severity and frequency!

Also, I have a scrip for Inderal to take when the wierd heart thingy starts.

I know how frustrated you feel. My LLMD was the only one who "understood" what I was talking about when I described it. Now, I don't have him anymore [shake] and I miss that guy!

Sometimes, I still get the chokey feeling but, not as often. Are you on any thyroid meds? I know when they changed me from synthroid to Armour Thyroid, it seemed to help the choking sensation a little bit.

I'm about to start a new med - Ketek. It has helped my kiddo a bunch so, I'm hoping it will help me too. I still feel soooo bad overall!

Take care - and know, you will get thru this!

Sherry

Hi,

I had the golfball in the throat feeling along with my heartbeat skipping back in the spring.

I had just finished Babs treatment in November. Then I was switched to Ketek and Ceftin then just Ketek. When I added in minocycline the indigestion/golfball/heart stuff started.

I had to stop abx completely for a while. Then I went on CSM (cholestyramine) for toxins.

I went to a cardiologist on my own and told him I had palpatations and skipping heartbeats. A stress test showed that I have Mitral Valve Prolapse with mild regurgitation. That pretty much means I have Lyme heart.

I also found that taking a lot of electrolytes helped it. I drank a lot of Gatorade, took Calcium, Magnesium and occasionally potassium when it was really bad. Watch out for potassium, you can overdose with it.

I'm now taking minocycline along with CSM and a lot of supplements. I've only had a mild episode of the heart stuff when I first started. It all turned out to be herx-related and temporary.

Oh yeah. You better check in to Ketek more closely. It can effect the heart. I question if that is what started my problem in the first place. Go to www.ketek.com and read the contraindications.

Hope this helps,

Corgilla
