Hello everyone...I will be stopping my weekly bicillin injections in about two weeks..I am feeling pretty good(with a wierd day mixed in every once in a while-not sure if it's the lyme)I have been on abx for about 16 months now..

Is there any advice/suggestions that you all may have about staying abx free and not relapsing?

Relapsing is the thing that's freaking me out...

Thanks Cathy

As we all know, there is no guarantees, but it appears that Lyme is opportunistic and likes to relapse when your immune system is compromised or when your body is stressed. For example, my friend relapsed when her mother died, my other friend relapsed when he had terrible bronchitis and had to take oral steriods, etc. [Frown]

So...try to avoid stress as much as possible....yeah right...well try to deal with it in a healthy way like exercise, yoga, etc. Make sure you keep your immmune system as strong as possible w/healthy eating, vitamins, and especially Vitamin C.

And if you are just now going off the abx. you are esp. vulnerable to C. Difficile, so take lots of probiotics and acidophilus and yogurt. Now is when your gut replenishes w/normal flora. I'm assuming it is the same w/IM injections of Bicillin as w/orals...somebody correct me if I'm wrong please [bonk]

That is my 2 cents worth, but I'm still in the trenches and wish I was where you are looking back. I am taking L.A. Bicillin currently though. Do you think it was the Bicillin that got you to feeling better?

But most importantly, live every day like you wished you would have before you ever had lyme. Don't take one minute for granted. [woohoo]

Best wishes,

jloisu

Keep up the supplements and probiotics. Continue to stay away from sugar and enjoy the time off. If symptoms return then you could consider rife or salt/C. I would give the body a rest for awhile, though. Just my humble opinion. Hiker

Hi everyone..Thank you so much for your good advice!!

Janet -- so many people rife..always a possibility..thanks : )

jloisu -- what is L.A. bicillin? Yes, the bicillin is what did it for me..saw rapid, incredible improvement with this medication..yes, you were correct..pro-biotics are very important even with injections. I am sorry that you are "still in the trenches"..I have to say one thing about that..once I started feeling better it kind of erased the ugly memories I had of this disease..please hang in there..it will feel like forever..but you will feel good again!!

Lymeed..thanks for the advice..so any mild symptoms should be brought to the attn of my doctor..I don't want the ka-boom ever again!!

hiker..thanks for your kind, humble opinion!!

Love this message board..don't know if i could have done it without it

Hi there, boston!!

......"Hello everyone...I will be stopping my weekly bicillin injections in about two weeks..I am feeling pretty good(with a wierd day mixed in every once in a while-not sure if it's the lyme)I have been on abx for about 16 months now".......

"With a weird day mixed in" is the part that brings up red flags to me. Dr B's Guidelines say "symptom free" for two to three months. I would assume the weirdness is Lyme symptoms to be safe!!

It is typical when Lyme is improving to have an increase in good days and less bad days. Could it be that you are still having a few of those bad days??

What would happen if you kept up the ABX just to see, take it a month at a time??? Then measure the trend.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Rife does not cause cancer but it has been scientifically recorded that it can heal it. I know a woman in California who was given six months to live when diagnosed with pancreatic cancer (the worst kind of cancer I know because my mother died of it 24 years ago).

This woman has treated herself with rife for her cancer and has lived for seven years, six and one-half years past her predicted death.

I know a man right now who had a huge (tennis ball size) tumor in his groin and a death sentence also. He has rifed and the tumor has reduced in size so that it can no longer be felt on examination.

People should refrain from talking about rife at all unless they have done a lot of research and know what they are talking about. Old wives tales have no place in this discussion.

I may hopefully one day face the same decision.

I think that when I achieve consistent symptom free status I will continue ABX for at least another 6 months. I may also call Dr.B and ask him about his opinion.

ILADS says that ending of ABX is patients' decision as doctors have no idea.
Factors in the decision are: length of sickness, length of treatment, ABX tolerance etc.

Some people just try to make 4 years and a half total ABX treatment.
