Thanks

My son sees Dr. B. and takes what he recommends. We get SAM-e at the grocery store (Nature Made). He is to take 800 mg of SAM-e.

Sam-e can be very expensive. You can get a quality brand at Costco, and I think it comes to about $45.00 a month. My husband takes, it and it can also help with depression.

This one may have a lot of side effects. Please do a lot of research before trying it. When you do a Google search, you'll see what the potential side effects are--they are pretty scary.

This combination worked really well for me when I had some really bad neurological brain fog.
Taken from Dr. B's Advanced Topics in Lyme Disease.

ACETYL-L-CARNITINE- this is taken along with SAM-e. This combination can result in noticeable gains in short term memory, mood and cognition. The Acetyl Carnitine also is said to help heart and muscle function. Doses: Acetyl-L-carnitine- 1500-2000 mg daily on empty stomach. SAM-e- 400 mg daily with the acetyl carnitine. Available in most vitamin stores. Positive results may appear as early as 3 weeks; use for 2 to 3 months. May be repeated if needed; generics are okay.

Keep a journal to track your symptoms so you know better what its doing for you.

In my case it made me manic so couldn't tolerate it.

Best wishes.

I agree with Dolphin about the symptom chart. I've been keeping one since before my first meeting with my LLMD. Took it with me to that initial meeting.

I'm able to tell at a glance when I've experience herx reactions, etc.

For me, a helpful chart is on the SE PA Lyme Assn site. You can get a blank chart or one with symptoms already logged in. I use the latter.

http://www.lymepa.org/html/ldasepa_useful_information.html

I hope this helps.

I've had great luck with sam-e and originally started it for mild depression but it has helped not only my mood but good for joint pain. My feet have improved with it. Haven't had any side effects.

I had a bad cog-fog about a year ago caused from Rifampin and a herx reaction. It was so bad I couldnt drive. The SAM-E and Acetyl carnitine cleared it in 3 days, so it really does help. [Smile] [hi]
