It may not work for everybody. Dose has to be good such as at least 400 mg/day (some people take 600 mg/day).

Avoid strong light, take vitamin C to avoid permanent skin tint (if you care).
How long? I don't know, but long.

is that connected to yellowishness in the skin?

Some of my toughest herxes occurred when I jumped from 25 mg of mino to 50 every other day. Whether that dose was enough to kill neuroLyme, I don't know, but it was sure having an impact somewhere.

I had the yellow skin too, mostly on my hands, feet and face. Can be due to several things, but for me turned out to be thyroid related, even tho blood tests showed normal thyroid levels. The color diminished when I began thyroid hormone supplements post thyroidectomy. I can't help but think Lyme was somehow involved with the thyroid issues.

My daughter made the best progress so far when mino was added. She takes 50 mg twice a day.

Some people got dizzy after Mino and therefore some doctors put them on very small doses such as 25-50 mg/day. I took 400 mg with no problems. If I ever come back to Mono I will use dose 600 mg.

fatigued15, that's very interesting, do you know what drugs mino was put in combination with?

What is mino and what does it do against Lyme? Or is it for coinfections?

Mino is minocycline (or minocin) and it is used against borrelia, like doxy, tetra.

I have never heard of anyone else on doses this high of minocin. Think 100mg x2 is the usual dose. When I first started, it made me too dizzy to continue. But now for some reason it no longer has this effect, even when I take 200mg at once (on a theory about kill kinetics, which wasn't proved).

minocycline is a tetracycline antibiotic often used continuously for acne. the illnesses it is used for i am not sure of. doxy is effective in ehrlichia cases, but i don't know about mino.

mino achieves greater levels in the CNS, and apparently kills lyme. it seems to be sort of the underdog to doxy and tetra, though in neurolyme there may be theoretical and anecdotal evidence that minocycline in superior.

wierd side effects can occur which include pigmentation problems, tooth discolouration and vertigo apparently. i cannot say for sure though if i am more unsteady than i usually am anyways.

Mino can cause severe physical and psychological side effects. If you find that you can't tolerate it, there are many other options.

It can also make great headway against neuro symptoms.

Mino may work but in many cases is totally ineffective.

Perhaps because it is too easly bounded by blood protein.

My TSH was comfortably within normal range too while I had the yellowed skin. Yellowed skin (but normal whites of eyes) is usually a sign of hypothyroidism. No doctor could explain why it was happening when my TSH measured normal.

Even now, for me to be even semi-functional I need a very high dose of thyroid hormone, one that pushes my TSH to 0.01 or undetectably low levels. Understandably, my doctors are not happy with those numbers, but if I don't take that much hormone, I'm too sick to get out of bed. At that dose, my yellowed skin problem resolved.

Since starting the MP, the level of thyroid hormone I must take to be semi functional has nudged down, which is the desired direction, and is a sign to me the MP is helping.

Let me add that years ago I took tetracycline for acne. Perhaps early use of such abx + Lyme later = yellowed skin? If enough people report experiencing the same, it sounds like an interesting research project.
