He has had headache and neck pain and trouble sleeping and irritability for months now. I was hoping for something today now we have to wait again. Also I did get bllod results back from family doctor and he is positive with HLA-B27 which is linked to anklosing spondylitis and immune problems. ANyone every hear of that?

Hi-Dont know about the HLA B27 but my son is HLA DR4 and from what I understand that means his body does not make enough antibodies to fight infection well. It is associated with Rhematoid Arthritis (sp?). Pretty much my sons immune system is in the crapper too.

Amy: Test results from Igenex take about three weeks. When is your next appointment with the LLMD?
There are supplements that your son can take to support his body's immune system, which will be dealing with the Lyme bacteria.
You should read Dr. Burrascano's Guidelines. There is a section about supplements.
Sorry you're having to wait for tests to get antibiotics for your son. I can certainly identify with his neuro symptoms.
Prior to learning I had Lyme, I took MGN-3 (immune stimulant - sort of like a natural antibiotic) by Lane Labs which is now sold as Noxylane4 DS (double strength) which went straight to my neck.
In 2004, the FDA didn't like their label on the MGN-3 and pulled it from the shelves; yet there was nothing harmful about the product.
It strengthens the immune system and the original research on MGN-3 was for cancer; I guess it proved to be too much of a threat to the cancer industry.
Anyway, Lane Labs has their newly labeled product Noxylan4 DS on the market.
I just ordered my catalog for Lane Labs by going to www.compassionnet.com which offers Lane Labs products. (I don't sell this or any product.)
According to Lane Lab's label----- They have a 2 step program for maximum benefit:
1. Take four 250 mg capsules (or 2 double strength capsules) twice daily for 3 weeks.
2. After 3 weeks, reduce usage to maintenance level of 1 to 2 250 mg. capsules twice daily (or 1 to 2 Double Strength Caplets daily).
That Noxylane 4DS will be fast-acting if it's as good as the original stuff.
The other thing I've taken in the past was Beta Glucan Supplements made by NSC called: Immunition Glucan Xtra Strength - 60 Count at $81.
But you can get them at 3mg 30 capsules for $16.96 & try them out.
If you go to www.nsc24.com and click on catalog or e-mail them for a sample, they might send you a sample; at least that's what it says on the website.
The beta glucans must be taken on an empty stomach to be effective. They can be taken with antibiotics; they sort of work behind the scenes on the immune system. I should be on them constantly but can't afford them right now.
Also, 2 things mentioned by Carol at the www.pharmanex.com site are:
1. Reishi Max GLP Immune Defense
2. Immune Formula (I think this is the one that contains the "arabinoxylane" (sp.) the same sort of thing as in Lane Labs' Noxylane4 DS. )
Hope you find something to help your son. For achiness I've used generic Motrin with food, if he is one who can tolerate Motrin.
I sure hope his doc will address the insomnia; to me, that's the primary thing along with antibiotics.
I've used low dose RX elavil for insomnia as well as Elavil & Motrin together for unrelenting pain. It quietens the nerves down.
Best of luck, Jan
