I can't say that I've ever heard of Trude -- but I want you to know that your announcement has brought many tears to my eyes, tears which are now freely rolling all the way down to my belly button. (Yes, probably too much information, huh?) But I am truly happy for her!
Thank you DLL for sharing this news, as I know it will give many others a great amount of hope.
Before I became this ill with Lyme, my hubby & I were planning for our 2nd child, and I've almost given up hope of ever having a 2nd child because of this @#$%ing disease.
Thank you for restoring some hope to me about that. I know that we are all different - we all have different healing journeys - but every once in awhile - I think it is so necessary to FEEL a little HOPE- especially when we physically feel so damn ill.
Your post is well timed for me personally.
Blessings to you -- and of course to Trude & baby boy!

Hi Wiseass,
I have also pretty much given up hope of ever having a second child. I have suffered miscarriages since having my daughter 10 years ago, then infertility for 5 years after that, and then found out I had chronic Lyme (I was dx'd with CFS for 14 years before). If I get well enough again, I may be too old as I'm already 37.
Lymetoo, I think Trude may come along and say hi sometime. I talked to her today and she said she'll try to pop by and say hello to all soon, when she has a free moment.

DLL, I'm new and don't remember Trude, but please give her my congratulations! And please don't give up on another baby. I know you are probably very aware of the blood clotting issues related with lyme, but just in case....have you been tested for blood clotting factors? That can cause miscarriages. My daughter just tested protein S deficient. The hematologist says that it is genetic; but in reading up on it, I found that severe infection/inflammation can cause it as well. And it can be treated. I'm probably not tell you a thing you don't already know. Anyway, hang in there. A prayer just went up for you.

Thanks Lymeout,
Are there different kinds of blood tests for clotting factor? I asked my GP to test for this a few years ago (after my 2nd miscarriage), and he said it was normal. However, I don't know if there is more than one test, or different interpretations of it.

DLL, These are the tests that the hematologist ordered: Protein S Antigen-Total and Free Protein S Activity Lupus Anticoagulant Screen - PTT-LA, DRVVT SCreen Prothrombin Time Thrombin Time Prothrombin Gene Analysis Factor V (Leiden) Mutation Homocysteine, Cardiovascular Cardiolipin AB Panel
Our LLMD was NOT familiar with the tests the hematologist ran, so most likely your family dr. won't be either. DLL, I interrupted this reply to do some more research and just found a study done at Yale that identifies two proteins - Z & S -related to such pregnancy complications as miscarriage, preeclampsia, stillbirth! Rather than my trying to properly copy the address here, just google Yale and Protein and Pregnancy. You will get the press release, dated March 22, 2005. According to this, you really need to see a hemotologist, get these tests BEFORE you get pregnant. Pregnancy alters the numbers. Get going, and good luck!!! If you can't find this study, let me know. I will PM you and attach. Cindy

Thank you Lymeout, I will save that information. I am not in a position (no pun intended lol) to get pregnant right now as before when I did get pregnant (and miscarried) I did not know I had Lyme.
Right now I have to wait to be well enough to contemplate such a feat, because I know what it's like to have a small baby, and want to discuss with my LLMD as to at what point it may be considered 'safest' as far as any potential baby is concerned.
Trude, whom this thread is about, was already further into her treament that I am, and was much more well than I currently am, which I think is a good idea to wait for. For those that are wondering, yes, Trudie has continued tx throughout her pregnancy to prevent transmission to baby.
