I keep getting this tight pressure type feeling in my head, in the top of my forehead area and on top. I have also had dizziness with this. I have been getting worried about what this could be.

I hope its not something with my brain or anything serious.I had and MRI for ringing in my ears about 7 months ago and it showed nothing. Its getting hard to make it through the day at work.

Any ideas.....Please

Head pressure can be side effect of medication. My daughter experienced it with minoclycline.

I just stopped taking ceftin about a week ago but it seems to have gotten worse without the abx. I know that some people have experienced this from lyme, and i have tested positive.

I just get worried sometimes. I dont want to take any more time off from work, but I feel so lousy lately. I am going back to my LLMD here in NJ in the next couple of weeks maybe she'll be able to help.

Sorry to be complaining to you all, it's just hard sometimes....You know how it is...

In emergencies Tylenol sinus has helped big time.

A new one on the market is advil sinus in the red box. Really a good deal.

Allot of people on this board say that advil doesn't touch the pain.

I find that if I just automatically take 2 advil with food and meds in the morning the headache doesn't get a chance to take over.

With pain........ It's almost like you need to medicate before it happens.

Well I have a headache I'm going to take 2 advil now.

Improver, hello there. For 6 yrs I had these strange sensations in my head. They only last seconds and they don't happen daily, but they would be there on average once a week or less.

Everytime it happened I would spend that few seconds worrying if I was having a brain anerism (sp.

I've come to learn that many lyme symptoms can come and go in seconds or minutes or hours or days. I've always said it's waking up and not knowing what today will bring with lyme disease.

I struggled for over 2 yrs working and was in a very stressful job. I'd been waiting for that job for 15 yrs and sick or not I was going there.

Nine months later the stress, the lyme, the illness slammed me against the wall. It took 4 yrs to get any of my past life back.

Stress and lyme disease are a BAD combination, IMO.

Take care, Pam

I have gotten the head pressure you are talking about. I got it before taking abx so I think the Lyme can cause it as well. Mine was mostly in the back of my head but sometimes it would come from my forehead as well.

My husband has had this head pressure since just a few weeks after he was infected. It is there daily and has been now for over a year. He says it starts on his forehead and then goes over the top of his head and sometimes down the back. Sometimes, he feels as if his head will burst. He does not always have pain but when he does the headache is a killer. Occasionally, he feels as if he can hear or feel creaking sensations in his neck and head. He finds it totally debilitating and frightening. He has had a recent clear MRI and his doctors just shrug - they clearly think it is in his imagination. He has just finished 4 weeks IV but that has not helped the head sensations.

If anyone out there knows the reason for these sensations and a way to relieve them, please post.

Brodie

Hi,

The doctor doing research at NYU has seen changes in SPECT scans which measures the blood flow in the brain. Maybe that's what is causing these sensations.

There are some patients who get increased intracranial pressure, from the Lyme, but antibiotic treatment can make it worse.

The way to diagnose AND treat this is lumbar puncture, which can relieve some of the pressure. If the headaches are severe, and nothing else works, you might ask about this, and whether it could be possible in your case.

For myself, I found anti-seizure meds were required to stop the migraines that started last fall. I also had extreme feelings of pressure in my head and eyes, trouble with vision, and nausea. It depends on the case of the pain, what is needed to handle it.

I hope you find something to help. Whatever you do, if you have Lyme, it helps to find a way to maintain treatment for the infection.
