My kiddos are herxing away.
Son on 2doses Omnicef and 5oomg Zith. Mean and cranky 12yr old. Hot and cold little energy. Bearable anxiety. He's ok but I am concerned that his character is going to pot if this is goes on for months and months.
Daughter Rocephin 1gm 3x week. Supposed to add 500mg Flagyl on alternate day. May be 750mg; I am afraid to even look at the written plan. She couldn't tolerate 2grams rocephin, even though she did 12wks daily last spring. 2grms pain from head to toe and some scarey emotional stuff 2hrs after infusing.
In bed with fatigue. Pulling her out of the house 2-3x per week counting dr.
She just dropped home-bound science class. Now down to 9th grade English and Algebra. so we are looking at 2credits for this yr.
My heart is hurting and I am not wanting to nuke her but trying to do what is best.
Sorry this got long. The decisions about the kids may be the hardest part. Also I am better but they aren't.
Probably belongs under support, but a certain someone is following there.

Also bad day with GI which has been much better lately.
Son is mean, and hiding from us most of time. I neglected to include.

My heart aches for you and your kids.
Sounds as if everyone is herxing big time which, if I'm not mistaken, means their bacterial load must be very high.
If it's of any consolation to you, all children I know (and I know quite a few) who have had LD recovered very well. Hope you and your kids can hang in there during this tough time.

I am so sorry you and your kids are having a rough time.
But this means alot of killing off of the Bad ketes. The worse they feel means the die off is working.
I wish we didn't have too go thru so much suffering to get better. But the pain is not forever if that is any consolation. Here is a recipe for herxing that helps me:
One cup of distilled water Juice of one lemon Three TBS extra virgin Olive oil. & drink
Warm epsom baths(Not too hot) Can also help detox durning a herx.2 cups epsom, one cup baking soda.
Don't forget to drink tons of water. This can help flush out toxins too. No sugar or carbs. They feed the ketes and yeast.
If it gets to unbearable you could ask your LLD to back off for a few days.
Take care and God Bless

Do you have to herx to be cured. I was on Ketek and had headaches daily and weakness in my legs and hands. Since I am now on IV Rocephin, weakness continues, diarria, headaches, back pain, nausia and poor balance.
Could all those symptoms be herxes?

Cjar, I just have to write and say, "God Bless you and those children. It sure sounds like major herxing is going on. I say this because what you described is exactly what I've been going through.
Itis certainly bad enough for us adults, but it has to be so much more worse on children. I know it is terribly hard on you to watch them suffer.
I just don't have much to add that will help you except maybe try the Detox Foot Pads, they really pull the toxins out during sleep and maybe you could make sure the childrens intestines are moving regularly in order to keep those toxins flowing out............my doctor told me that was one of the key elements when herxing.........and I agree...........
Again, God Bless you all............. Dalphia (Gaye)

Thank you everybody.
Amazing how much it helps to hear from those who have experience with this this, I don't even know what to call it! Encouragement clears out your head and heart so you can see the good that does happen. (even on the hard days)
Today was a good day. Son did awesome work with tutor and is now a chapter ahead in 6th grade math. Daughter did both rocephin and small dose flagyl and is not too bad. Her teen ministry is starting to pair the girls up to encourage each other. She is looking forward to getting together with a prayer partner.
She just got to sleep, which is a good night for us. Goodnight!
I had MOST of YOUR symptoms BEFORE I started my herbal regimen. But after a couple of days on the herbs, the off balance, headaches, weakness, nausua, etc., just went away. PLUS a few days later the brain fog and very bad vision disappeared.
I do have relapses into joint pain now and again, but NOT like it was before I started them.

Char,
One blessing I see in your story is that you are better. Much as you would rather suffer yourself than see your children suffer, you are their caretaker and how wonderful you aren't herxing right along with them. If you were the sick one as so many parents are, I doubt seriously they would be quite as devoted and patient toward you and you would have the added frustration of not being able to tend to your family.
Monica's knowledge of other children recovering so well is also encouraging.
God bless you and speed their recovery!
