I have two boys that have been diagnosed with lyme. They both have had some amoxicillan, ceftin for 4-5 weeks and zithromax for 4 weeks..They seem to be doing really well. We have been on zithromax for 5 days then off for 5 days. They have been doing so good. Sleeping all night, no fevers...
We havent noticed anything strange... could they be cured? Could they be at a point where they can be off antibiotics? Their personality's are back to normal.. They have energy now. Seems as if their back to themselves.
There doctor has been treating them working with our LLMD. They are going to see our LLMD Jan 5th so we will see what he has to say.. I just have seen so much improvement with them..
Can children take antibiotics for a couple of months and be done?? Do kids have to go through the list of antibiotics like adults? Sorry with all the questions..
They will be done with there zithromax tomorrow. And there doctor is thinking that they are done with the antibiotics. And then they are going to see LLMD on Jan 5th. There doctor is going to call our LLMD and get his input so we will see.

Sorry to hear your kids have lyme but I'm glad they're diagnosed and getting tx. One of my siblings had all 4 of their children tested and the entire family was positive. The onset of lyme on one son had a devastating effect but the Mom learned about Lyme and used her knowledge to help the rest of the family.
It's been 4 years now, the 12 year old was 8 when she went on abx and today she is the prettiest, sweetest little person with a fun personality. She had sleep problems and rage problems. They cleared up quickly. Her sister had sudden onset of eye problems that quickly retreated. The bother who they were told to "make arrangements" for is now a college graduate and doing awesome.
The grandfather was in an Alzheimer's clinic and he came back positive also. After 2-3 mo. abx he rememberd his daughter and grandaughter for the 1st time in at least a year. They had a nice exchange and it was closure for the family before he passed away. We all believe it has been passed down from him and who knows where else since the Mom AND Dad were both positive.
None of them have yet been able to come off of abx but I do have a friend whose college age son is doing well. He was dx'd about 4 years ago, took abx for a year or two and focused heavily on building the immune system. Today he is w/o abx and also doing awesome.
Your kids are so ahead of the game w/diagnoses. Hopefully building their young immune systems can help them have healthy lives.
In my opinion, the older we get the harder it is for our immune systems to repair and function so I would guess that YES, kids definitely should get better faster. Doesn't always happen but logically is should

I agree that children may have a better position from which to heal, but I would be careful about how you define "cure". Many of us believe that it is never "cured" in terms of being completely gone from the body but is in some cases "cured" in terms of symptom resolution / remission. Good luck.

My gosh, Curley........what an ordeal for the family to go through.......
It sure makes you wonder about how many people are incorrectly diagnosed..... I noticed you see the little one had rage problems? Think of the children who are put on steroids and psychotic drugs these days..... How might their lives be changed with a proper diagnosis? (if they do have Lyme, of course)
I've read story after story about the doctors and antibiotics, but I will still never understand why the medical community doesn't aggressively pursue this illness.
