Does anyone who sees Dr. D in Mass. know if he tests for co-infections?

My doctor who is lyme knowledgeable but not an LLMD consults with Dr. D. My doc seems to think that our bodies handle co-infections like bartonella & mycoplasm. I guess he thinks our immune system will take care of that bacteria which doesn't seem to be the case after reading that many people on this forum are being treated for barts & mycloplasm. He does tests for babs.

Dr. D. in MA did test me for co-infections. I believe some people who saw him a few years before I did were not tested, because I have read of their experience here. But he did test me. We also talked at length ab. the co-infections bec. the tests themselves can show false negatives (as Lyme tests do).

This was a few years ago so I am assuming that he is doing the same thing now.

All best wishes to you!

PS

I also meant to say that I did not receive the impression that Dr. D. believes our immune system handles Bartonella by itself! (As if it just goes away by itself?) No, we discussed the treatment needed for it.

I hope this helps!

I definitely needed antibiotics to get my mycoplasma infection under control. Without them it would have definitely paralyzed me and could have eventually killed me.

I read lots of articles about Bartonella several years ago when I was diagnosed & treated.

Some articles discussed only Bartonella - not with Lyme & other co-infections.
If I remember correctly, some of these articles said that Bartonella would run its course & was not a problem to deal with.

Be sure to read about Bartonella in "Diag Hints & Treatment Guidelines..." (page 23-24)
www.ilads.org/burrascano_0905.html
Print a copy if you don't have one.
It's 33 pages of excellent info.

He thinks that "the tick-associated strain of Bartonella is different from that described as 'cat scratch fever'."

If your dr would be willing to read it, give him a copy.
