Got blood test yesterday but it wont be back for a week. They gave doxycycline 200 Mg a day for 30 days, is this enough? They would not even test me or give me a treatment for lyme disease until i made a very big deal about it. Now I am fighting to get a referal from my doctor to go to a infectious disease specialist so that he can test me for other problems i might have (co-infections).

I hate Keiser permanente, anyone who says they are good are dumb. None of the doctors i saw want to test me for antying, keep saying its a virus it will run its course. Meanwhile i am getting sicker and sicker.

My neck is stiff on one side, hurts to turn it, i feel weak, like i have not slept for a long time, my left arm and shoulder is no longer burning but feels very weak now. I felt some nauseau this morning and some vertigo. How long does it take to feel a little better on these antibiotics i am taking? Can someone give me an idea? Just so I have expectations. Thanks everyone.

-Luke

Physicians who specialize in treating lyme and non-specialists with experience tend to say that 200 mg. of doxycycline a day is not enough to effectively treat an EARLY infection, much less one that is firmly imbedded.

The likelihood of getting help form an infectious disease doctor is not high as they tend to subscribe to their specialy's guidelines that call for brief treatment.

If your infection is recent, time is a-wasting. If it's not recent, you really need carefull evaluation by a doctor who is knowledgeable and, if diagnosed, aggressive treatment. I understand the need to use your health care benefits but ultimately the question is "Do you want to be sick the rest of your life?" If you don't you will have to do whatever is necessary.
Find an LLMD.

I'm kind of an old hand at this and have done well with treatment. If you have other questions, send me a PM.

Time ............ It takes time......... My son has been on doxy for 6 weeks now and actually he is feeling worse! His body is herxing from it and the doctor says this is the way it goes! We also think we got it early but one thing that I have learned so far is patience! This disease takes its own sweet time and everyone is different. When we started doxy we were also on nystatin for yeast and many vitamins. Make sure you have a good doctor who is up on the latest treatment of lyme. Good Luck

David is correct--

Make sure
If infection is resent
dont waste any time-
Days Matter now--

200mg of doxi is called the
-Standard Dose-- this amount
will kill many germs-Not Lyme--

The dose of doxi is 500 to 600mg

Look for LLMD---

Read the newbee pages here--
Dr B papers are easier to understand
and a good place to start--

If you have a lyme bulleye bruse
take a picture of it -Important-

Also there is several places
you can get doxi with out a
