I don't want to challenge my extremely competent LLMD- but when I read Dr. B's guidelines it says that Biaxin should be given with hydrochloroquine.
Should I call my ld and ask him to prescribe this?

I asked my LLMD a few weeks ago about hydrochloroquine. He said he would give it to me if I was in dire straights (I'm not). The problem is, it has ocular side effects. You have to see an opthamologist every 6 months. That sounds pretty serious.

Maybe he wants to see how you react to one drug before adding another?
My extremely competent LLMD (in CT) has put me on Biaxin by itself in the past. Given my reaction to the biaxin, he added either plaquenil or ceftin.
If you react to something, it is extremely helpful to know which drug you are reacting to which can be difficult if you start on multiple drugs.
Maybe give him a call? He might have a treatment plan already outlined in his mind.
Or just take the biaxin, keep a good record of your reactions and chat with him at your next appointment.

have had sucess,, or should I say lots of miserable herxes and some possible damage then some supression from BIAXIN
the plaquenil after about 4 months started making me feel sick and making my blood pressure drop lower then it normally was.
Very interesting.
So I told my LLMD that I stopped taking it and I went back to FLAGYL because of constipation I was having.
So for me,, i dont think the plaquenil did much of anything except mess with my blood pressure and make me feel quoossy,,,
oh yea and did I mention that It can cause you to go blind?
If the illness doesnt incapacitate you then the treatment will.

I was on Biaxin and Flagyl about 2 years ago for about 6 months, it was my first time lyme treatment for
undiagnosed 17 year lyme.
It saved my life. I was in respiratory distress, waking up with a suffocation feeling off and on for about 1-2 months, and then found out to get checked for lyme.
I was also so very ill, going out of the house I would react to car exhaust and near die. I could not even get my teeth cleaned because the bacteria that was coming off my teeth, sent me to deaths door. After this combo, I was stronger, and could go outside, today though I am sicker, maybe because I have babesia, not sure, treating it now. My teeth were not even unclean, I had had them cleaned about 1 year before this.
Flagyl, has worked wonders for me, wonders. But in combo with other antibiotics, I had so much herxing, but I then cut back and worked up, Yeah! flagyl.
Biaxin and flagyl were lifesavers. Also had the worst lyme herxing on them, possibly because it was the FIRST time treating lyme.
I also started very low dosage on this combo and worked up.
FABULOUS! combo, at that time. I tried it one year later, it did not get me well, so went on azithromycin with Flagyl.

I took biaxin for about 2 months before adding plaquinel. It works w/ out plaq just fine.
I think I did get eye damage from the plaquinel but did not feel the effects til after I weened down from it.
I used to be able to read E V E R Y T H I N G!
Fine print w/ ease and stuff like 14k markings etc. It's fuzzy now. Just the fine print.
Awwwwww just tell me to shut up! I guess i should go back to the eye duck. Quack! I hate those drops.

I think you should let others know about what happened to you, especially if it is long term damage or any kind of damage.
