Hi Kim. Welcome to Lymenet. Glad you found us.

I'm 48 so pretty close to catchin up with you!

I have been in treatment for about 7 months for neuro Lyme too, with 11 frontal lobe lesions. Mainly headaches and brain issues for me, and of course fatigue. The IV is do-able. Get on a great probiotic like Theralac; you'll need it. Get liver panels done regularly. If you're just starting treatment, herxheimeir reactions might be tough for a while but expect them and know that better times will be coming along.

As far as supplements, you should REALLY run those past your LLMD first. Some docs don't want you on any except perhaps a select few.

You being a nurse is a GOOD thing. Think how many people you'll get to educate first-hand!

Come here and bring all questions!

Michelle

there so many people here with much more knowledge than me. I am sure they will be able to give you more suggestions. I say make sure to take lots of probiotics to replenish the good bacteria and body flora the IV abx will deplete.

Also be aware the Rocephen can cause gallstones. Should have periodic ultr-sounds to check. When I was on it I developed 4 stones after 5 weeks. Had to stop the Rocephen and was fortunate they dissolved on their own. Ultr-sound, 1 month after stopping, showed no stones.

THANKS SO MUCH MICHELLE M AND DMC!!!!
Should I do a juicing cleanser for Gallbladder every day to help prevent Gallstones? There is so much to learn! There definately is a need to
follow serious medication with a circle of nutritional needs and protection for what the main meds are causing...overwhelming at times...I am glad I have 5 more days of research
before starting my WAR AGAINST THIS UGLY HIDDEN
DISEASE!!!!! I wish I was rich I'd open Lyme clinics that we could go to and get a complete circle of health while being healed..nice music, meditation, acupuncture, loving support.hear us Universe! we need to be treated as well as cancer patients!!!(I was oncology nurse 12yrs. I can say that!)In the most positive way...xokim

Some docs prescribe "Actigall" to help protect gallbladder while infusing. Ask your doc about it.

As far as juicing goes, sounds like a wonderful idea except you're going to start having to watch carbs so you don't get yeast overload, so watch carefully what you put in your juicer! Normally your doc won't care about food ideas, but vitamins MUST be cleared as certain vitamins actually FEED the little beastards!!! Or make the antibiotics less effective. So make a list and run it past him or her.

Theralac is a great antibiotic that's helped many on this list. Check out their website (same as name). Ideal would be getting on it BEFORE you have a problem. Almost everyone gets a yeast problem while on IV -- be one of the ones who doesn't!

I'll bet you were a great oncology nurse. [group hug]

Hi, [hi]
I am new to treatment too. At 43 but I feel like I am 90. Been on abx since Jan 1st. I am just beginning to feel better.

How long have you been symptomatic? What symptoms and how did you get diagnosed? I am trying to know how bad you have to get before they go with the IVs? There were times when I thought I should have been in the hospital because I was dying.

Second only to the horrible pain I have endured Head, nerve, neck, ears, back joints...is the crazyness I feel. Cant put two words together, never mind figure out my diet, supplements, antibiotcs, sleep, and try to run a family.

I wish your clinics were open now because I would be the first in line. I need TLC and nobody cares in the medical field.
Kim
