This morning, I wanted to watch the story about antibiotics on Good Morning America.
Since I seldom watch TV in the morning, I turned it on too late & missed it.

.....but the TV stayed on & a Lyme patient was featured on the 700 Club (Christian Broadcasting Network).

www.cbn.com
Click Story of Brandilyn Collins (author) & Lyme Disease.

She told about how severe her symptoms were, learned thru testing she had advanced LD, treatments were intense, etc.

With her story, there's a link: "The Doctor is In
Learn about LD", which takes you to WebMD.

The site has lots of info about all aspects of Lyme, but (in my opinion) many parts are wrong & other parts are misleading!!
(I'm trying to be very diplomatic here.)

Click "Citations" to see whose opinions were used.

Click "Other Places to Get Help".
Don't know who selected the three sources.

I was so glad to see LymeNet listed,
but then they give contact info for the CDC and American Lyme Disease Foundation in NY.
This is NOT the Lyme Disease Foundation in Hartford, CT.

I hope that lots of our LymeNet people will e-mail CBN (contact info is on website).
We should thank them for helping to make people aware of how devastating Lyme disease can be.
We should also give them websites (like www.ilads.org ) that tell the other side of the Lyme Disease Story.

Some people may want to ask that they pray for the people suffering from Lyme disease.

Brandilyn's website has her e-mail for comments.
It would be nice to thank her for coming forward with her story.

If done with a lot of thought & diplomacy, WebMD could be given Info & the websites that we all find so helpful. Possibly they would consider making changes to their info on Lyme.

Nothing ventured - nothing gained!!

Thanks for sharing this. I read Brandy's story and can't believe that her devastating symptoms stopped instantly never to return...

How is this possible as so many suffer for so long? Do others here have similar stories? If so, please share!!

(Especially if your symptoms suddenly stopped and never returned.)

I watched CBN one time last week. I was pretty disgusted with the fund-raising. A lot of stories about people that were broke and gave almost their last dollar to Pat Robertson and then, came into a lot of money, etc. I thought it was despicable.

That said... this person probably just donated to CBN.... then, cured.

Sorry... a little sarcasm.

Got to support Pat and his lifestyle (horses, etc.)

I had wondered, too.
It sounds as if she had very aggressive treatment over a period of time.

Her story says that the "treatments were intense" & could only be administered a few weeks at a time.

She got worse (which sounds like a herx.)
More months of treatment & all symptoms went from the waist up.

Another round of treatments harsher than before.

Also, a 24 hr prayer vigil was set up for her & she went to a Healing Room in Spokane, WA.

It would be interesting to know how she was diagnosed, who her dr was, info about her treatment, & if her symptoms improved over the course of the treatment.

I have heard people say that when they've lived with certain symptoms for some time, that they kinda learn to live with it.
Then all of a sudden one day, they realize some symptoms are dramatically better or they're gone.

Happened to a friend.
Her shoulder & arm were so stiff, she could hardly get dressed. One morning, she put on her shirt easily, & then was surprised to realize the shoulder & arm had loosened up.

Same thing happened to me with the pain in my feet. One morning, I realized I was walking almost normally again.

Strange & unexplainable things can happen with Lyme disease.

Never give up hope!

Edited to add -
I don't want to give the impression I endorse this program or it's fund raising methods.
As I said, I normally do not even watch TV in the mornings.

The point I was trying to make is -
People who saw Brandilyn Collins talk about how LD devastated her life may want to learn more about the disease.

The link to WebMD does not have the info that I want people to use to learn about Lyme.
If they have Lyme, they would compound their problems if this was all they knew.

If enough people send in comments, the best info about Lyme may be made available to viewers.

My concern is that people be given the best info available today.

Do you know what happened to the segment you mentioned that would be on this morning about a certain antibiotic causing some kind of harm?

I looked on the GMA website, and did not see it.

Thanks for posting this.

Sounds like she had aggressive treatment fairly
early one.

I am glad she had her faith and this was a great comfort to her.

I have a family member, who insist's on reminding me that I could be healed tommorow if I prayed daily and had enough faith.I know she means well.

This is a really a cruel thing to say to someone who has a chronic illness.Like,if I had enough faith & prayed more I could be all better, and makes it sound like it's my lack of faith that is keeping me sick.

But the overall impression that I got from this show is :if you read your bible everyday, pray, hold prayer viguals, prayer rooms-you too can be instantly "Healed"."Instantly"

If this where true there wouldn't be any sick christains in the world.

I don't think this show helped the lyme cause at all and is another"tool" of the religious right to get their message out.

dontlikeliver~

I heard from a friend that the segment on (I think it was the today show--is that the one with Katy Couric?)---talked about antibiotics and C. difficile (which I have the priveledge of currently experiencing.

They mentioned that antibiotics were necessary in certain situations...lyme disease being one of them.

It would be nice to see the transcript of that...for it sounded good, and like they should be applauded for mentioning both.
