I have a severe case of late stage Lyme disease.
My insurance company has now decided to stop
approving and paying for my antibiotics which are necessary to keep me going. I find that I must now fight them to keep my antibiotic treatment protocols. I have downloaded the excellent abstracts titled: "Relapse and Persistence of Lyme Disease Despite Antibiotic Therapy". Can you suggest other articles on long term use of antibiotics to treat my late stage Lyme disease?
I am sure someone has had to fight their insurance company also in defending their rights
to antibiotic treatment. I would gratelly appreciate any information that would help demonstate the need for long term antibiotic use.
If I cannot convience the insurance company I do not believe that I can personally pay for the life saving medications. I have neurologic Lyme and I would like to keep on keepin on. I would appreciate any help that you can suggest or offer;
including peer reviewed articles and other references. Many thanks!

Go to general support. There is a post in there about "Insurance Appeals" or something like that...along with a sample letter that went to my insurance company.

Don't give up. They are counting on you to do that. That way they keep their (your) money.

Good luck.

Many thanks for the links. They are
very helpful! I will need additional
antibiotic therapy and know it. The
insurance company is quoting the New England
Medical Clinical Study which to me is an extremely faulty study. They quote:
"there were no significant differences in the percentage of patients who felt that their symptoms had improved, gotten worse or stayed the same..between antibiotic and placebo." I was
partially paralyzed and could not walk...barely functional. After antibiotic therapy I can walk and function again! No, there are residual issues, but I am far from the condition I was in.
And yes, I had LB positives across the board on repeated testing. It seems ridiculous to be arguing this with them but I must.
