I was wondering when you do your liver flushing - I have a set of pills with milk thistle etc., but is that usually done when you're still on abx, or only when you take a break.
Thanks,

I was told to NOT use milk thistle while on Mepron.
I have used it while on oral ABX and IV Rocephin. It was perhaps helpful, but it is hard to tell.

I am not taking abx right now so I am taking 2 milkthisstel 175mg AM & PM, with water, to use up the doses I have. My most effective daily treatment, infact I crave this, is an orange, washed...I peel it and eat the entire peel, then seperate the segments and eat the orange. I eat ate least 1 to 4 per day. My liver has not been elevated since I started this routine 1 1/2 years ago. My friends think I am strange. But it works...it's cheap and tasty, too!!!

Yikes! Can anyone tell me why you shouldn't take milk thistle and Mepron at the same time? My daughter and I have been faithfully taking both each day.

Wow, I wish I could do the citrus thing, esp. orange - I love them, can't have them - acidity or something.
( I had giardia once, about 14 years ago, and since then, I can't eat any raw fruits or veggies. I don't know if it was the treatment for it that did it (flagyl) or the giardia itself. For a while it was candida, probably.
Anyone else sensistive to raw fruits and veggies? Thanks for the tips,

Shar,
Have you ever tried making anything out of the orange peels to make them more palatable? It's a shame that candied orange peel doesn't quite fit in with Lyme treatment! Maybe they could be 'candied' with Xylitol...a new, unique, liver-beneficial dessert!

Milk thistle and Mepron: It supposedly lowers the blood levels of Mepron.

Thanks much! Very helpful information. Guess I'll stop the milk thistle for now -- at least for my daughter.
Actually I've been off my abx (Ketek and Mepron) for three days since developing a fine red rash all over my trunk and a little on the inside of my arms and legs. It has started to fade but is still there. Waiting to call my LLMD tomorrow ...
