Since my doc turned out to be a duck (yet another) I'm pondering my options.
One--go to one of the two Tampa area LLMDs. Anyone like to comment on Dr. C or Dr. R??
Two--go farther away to see a doctor. In Florida or out.
Three--self treat, with herbs or vet antibiotics, etc. The latter is easier for me than some as my husband is a vet. However, HE would prefer not treating a human.
Heavy sigh.
Thanks,
Lynne
It has been said that the doctor who treats himself has a fool for a patient. Guess it goes without saying that the patient has a fool for a doctor!

Dr. C is a good doctor, and people like him, but he has a reputation for suddenly and without explanation dismissing patients from his practice.
He did this to my parents and sister. The letter stated that it was for reasons of his own health, but I don't believe it. I have heard similar stories from others who were dismissed from his practice BEFORE my family started seeing him.
You may want to see him, but be prepared to have to find another doctor at some point. It may be that if you respond well quickly that he will keep you in his practice.
I will be interested to see what others have to say about their experiences with him.

I currently am seeing Dr C in Tampa and so far have been impressed with he and his staff. The doc I was seeing here in Orlando really didn't have a clue what to do when I relapsed after my first round of Rocephin. Dr. C and his staff are knowledgable and have been far more sympatheic to my concerns and able to answer my questions then my previous doc. It does disturb me that the post above says he dismisses patients suddenly. I'd recommend him and will keep you posted as to how he treats me. I see him again in March. Good luck

Yes, Melanie, I spaced out your reply! Thank you so much for the names.
I'm in so much pain. And I look awful. Pain makes you look different! I've been having to resort to narcotics the last few days.
My daughter spent the weekend getting her hair colored and buying shoes, going to parties and seeing friends. I spent my weekend at home, working (I work at home and often end up working weekends), mostly alone and in pain. I'm p***** off and feeling sorry for myself. It has to get better.
Thanks to all of you for being here and understanding.

Has no one here seen Dr. R? He has an office in Lakeland and I think he has one in Tampa, too. He doesn't take insurance. He's an infectious disease specialist.
Any other comments on any doctors anyone has seen in Florida would be welcomed.
I'm trying to make a decision about where to go. So far Dr. C has the most "votes".
I have to get refills on my regular meds, so I have to find someone in the next month or so. Plus, it would be nice to FINALLY get an un-duck.
Thanks,
Lynne
