The gastritis is burning pretty bad. Im on an all liquid diet today because I have a barium test tomorrow. Just drinking is causing it to burn badly!!

I have been trying aloe juice, mastic, slippery elm, and the diet. Its not feeling any better.

What am I missing?? What can I put directly into my stomach that will completely sooth it?? I have to go ba ck on antibiotics here pretty quick too.

Is there a good book out there on how to heal gastritis and other stomach problems?? Ive tried searching, and haven't come up with much.

I wanted to also add that I am doing cammomile and ginger teas. The PPI's are making things worse. They must be, or else I wouldn't have gotten the gastritis in the first friggin place!!

Im a stressed out mess too. The thought of knowing that my stomach is inflammed and I cant do anything about it, is killing me!! I don't want to develp stomach cancer or something now too! My mom died of cancer. I dont want to deal with that at all!

I am also STARVING right now!!!!!! I cant wait to get this stupid barium test over with by tomorrow!!

I know others on here have had terrible experiences with PPI's. I have read some articles and my Lyme brain cant remember any of them either right now. Good grief!!

Hi Nal
Good luck with your barium test tommorow. I'll say some extra prayers for you tonight.

Except tommorow when you are done with your barium test drinks alots of water because I remember that barium made me const.

Re : the milk suggestion - for what its worth when my stomach flared up on me recently and I started to drink more milk and it made it worse.

The only over the counter thing I have found that helps is liquid gaviscon, extra strenth. And then don't eat or drink any thing for a while because it coats the stomach and anything you drink wash's it away.

Same with RX carafate. I think of everything I am doing the carafate worked the best.

I did my babs round last week for 4 days and on the fourth day ,-no stomach problems- [Eek!] I was shocked. My last day is the worst on my stomach.

This makes me think that perhaps alot of it is lyme.

How go's the attempt to get the insurance for IV? This would bi-pass the stomach.

Hand in there [group hug]

I am presently seeing a naturopath/homeopath who has me on DGL tablets (which is licorice rootof some sort). It it supposed to heal the lining of the digestive track and I take one 15 minutes before each meal.It can be bought at a health food store but I don't have the knowledge to tell you if it's safe with anything else you take. Since taking it, I don't use Nexium any more. Hope this helps.

Do you have leaky gut? I found that if you have allergies that you could have leaky gut. I studied what to do for it and now take cow colostrum. Also
take pepto b before bicillin inj and after, sometimes if wheezing or short of breath. This clears it for me. Also halfed the inj. Is your atb's causing it?

May need to strengthen the linning of a leaky gut with herbs or something and decrease atb. dose. I hope you find relief soon.
Take Care

This might be worth a shot, but then again it might not be.

My boyfriend had a two month stint of SEVERE stomach issues every time he ate. Lava feeling stomach, belching and horrible stomach pain. It didn't happen just SOMETIMES, it happened ALL the time. And like you, we tried everything.

We did a liver flush ( Hulda Clark's ) on www.curezone.com. It worked. We just did it on Saturdady, but he has been completely pain and lava stomach free for three days now. Which to him, is the world, considering it was killing him non stop for two months.

I have a mild hemmorhagic gastritis ( and have, for years).

I have used ginger root in the past to help it. All in all, my burning spontaneously resolved and well before I ended up sick with lyme, so I don't really know what did it.

I hope that helps at least a little bit.

Try virgin coconut oil. Take 3 tablespoons a day or if it is hard to get down, spread on toast and scrambled eggs.....

Drink tea, coffee, or warm water(Best). No coco or anything with sugar or sugar substitutes...

No caffine free stuff (nasty chemicals are left over from the process).

Works for me with a very delicate stomach(Reflux problem)..

Coconut oil boosts the immune system also... It contains 50% Lauric acid which is very good for you. Hospitals use it to stregthen a sick body.

Stay away from soy and veggie cooking oils (slow poisons)... Veggie cooking oil tears up my tummy.

So I don't dine out very much.... If I must eat out I take a table spoon of coconut oil before I go, seems to help...

(If food is man made it is probably bad for you)

Nal:

I found the C-Salts from nutri.com have been super helpful with my two-month+ bout with stomach pain and nausea. NO abx also helps.

I found Ginger Root only made it worse. Have you tried just a LITTLE Ginger Root on your tongue? Try it, but don't tell anyone I told you to do so. They will come after me for trying to kill you.

Ginger Root BURNS something FIERCE! Can you imagine what it DOES to an already touchy stomach? UGH! [shake]

I drink SKIM milk ONLY and IT DOES HELP MY stomach. However, not ALL people can drink milk, especially cow's milk. Some do well on goats milk. I have always had lots of cow's milk, so am used to it, and I have always used it IF I had spicy things to eat or heartburn later after eating anything. It definitely HELPS for ME. But it is a personal thing.

Hang in there. I know the feelings. Try the milk IF you can, or tums, not rolaids. NOT fruit or mint flavor. Pepto makes me feel sick, but can work.

Thanks guys. I had my lovely lower barium test done this morning. The radiologist of course wouldn't tell me if they found anything wrong or not so Ill have to wait till my dr gives me the results.

I didn't realize you could take virgin coconut oil plain. I may give that a try.

Jim, where do I find the C-salts?

Carafate is what works the best for me. I take it three times a day in a liquid form, it really soothes my throat too. I also take protonix once a day.

I would be unable to take any antibiotic with out them.

does the carafate just take time to work? Ive tried it in the past, but didn't notice a difference.

I may be trying gastrocrom soon too. Anyone have luck with that one?

I take it in a teaspoon and chase it with a nutrition bar.

Did you ever try the L-Glutamine? or misoprostol?? The latter is a prescription.

HI Nal
How did the barium go?

The carafate takes a some time to work. The priciple is it coats your stomach and allows the stomach linning to heal. The directions say :

take 2 tsp 4 times a day. Take this med on an emty stomach. 1 hour before or two hours after eating.. DONOT take antacids for at least 30 minuetsbefore or after this med." Great to take right before bedtime-so your stomach is coated throughout the night."

Tricky with the timing of this. My friend had an ulser and the carafate healed her stomach. But you have to follow the insructions.

The gaviscon extra strength.Says take:

after meals and at bedtime. It important to not drink anything after taking this for a while. Because the whole principle is to coat your stomach-much like the carafate.
If you drink or eat anything right after it washes the coating off the linning of your stomach.

Take care Nal and let us know how you are doing.

Nal,

In ,past 5 years since obtaining LD and candidiasis, my GI tract has been a mess!

Last summer, I had an appendicitis and lost my ascending colon as well.

I have since then started using DGL, Aloe, MSM, undenatured whey. I've bumped up my probiotic, Milk Thistle, alfalfa and beet tabs, enzymes and raw veggies. I do occasional oral bentonite and enemas/colonics.

I have not been able to do psyllium since my surgery as it stops everything.

I think one of the most important things that I have done to heal my gut has been increasing enzymes. I found when I did that, I no longer had GERD.

Of course everything works together!

Nal:

Like I said, you can check it out at:

nutri.com

You can GOOGLE it, comes right up.

Also, once you get there and decide what you want, (I preferred ordering their 735 gram, or 28 ounce bottle, as it was the cheapest in the long run); the use their 800 toll free number as it is free and MUCH faster than ordering online from them. They are in California, so allow for that time zone when calling.

Hope it goes good for you. They ship right out too. AND shipping by regular ground is FREE also.

I added back in the L-Gluatamine today and I have increased the probiotics. I am taking aloe again but in much smaller doses.

My dr called today and she wants me to stop the candida diet for now. It could be that I cant digest meats and normal foods right now-does that make sense?

She completely wants me off PPI's. She totally believes that they are wrecking my digestive system and I have to agree with her! Im switching to zantac for a while and then will wean off of that slowly too.
