I had my thyroid removed for cancer five years ago, and have been on levoxyl ever since. My endocrinologist always insisted that I take it on an empty stomach--and wait an hour to eat anything. (Also, don't have calcium or iron supplements for at least six hours.) More info on such things on Mary Shoman's thyroid website. Good luck. Dorothy

Taking thyroid medication with food makes the assimilation irregular. If you take it on an empty stomach, you get more even levels of hormone, and it is easier to keep things balanced.
If you change how you do things, your thyroid levels may go up, so be sure to watch for that. Could be a good thing.

I take it on an empty stomach and all by itself. Usually around 2-4 am whenever I wake up. My doc says not to ANYTHING else with it.
Then I go back to sleep and take my tetracycline on an empty stomach at the next wake up.
My whole day is juggeling empty stomach, with food, 3 hrs away from all vitamin & minerals etc. Everything has its own need and trying to fit it all end make me crazy
Its like the worst jizsaw puzzle ever.
