anybody here get abx injections of rocephin or zithromax directly in the hurting joints??? will this have a better effect of killing the chronic cetes or am i just dreaming????? i know injections of cortisone is definietl a no-no but how's bout rocephin??? anybody try it???? email me if like [email protected]

Is this your own idea, or did you hear about it somewhere? It sounds like it might be really painful, at least upon injection, although I guess you could give it w/a little lidocaine.

You're correct about not wanting to get steroid shots into the joint. I had that done, when I unknowingly had latent lyme in my body, and that "activated" the lyme, causing me to totally fall apart for a year and a half before figuring out that I had lyme.
I "think" I had an antibiotic injected into my knee during surgery. I'd have to check to be sure. I certainly had IV vanco given to me during the surgery, which caused a huge herx 12 days later. (Read: If I had died, I would have been fine with it).
I would imagine that most of an antibiotic given into a joint would stay localized....as does most (but not all) of a steroid shot. So, I guess if you want to kill off the ketes in one location, that might be something to try....
If my orthopedic doctor friend was still around, I'd ask him...but he moved...
