Doesn't sound weird to me at all -- I've had that for years (or something very like it.) First dx'ed as carpal tunnel and ulnar neurtis, then later as possible MS. Now, of course, I know its the Lyme. I get nerve sensations that can feel like shocks, can feel like I'm just aware of the nerves in my hands, can be pain all the way from shoulder to fingertips (nerve pain) or sometimes the sensation of phantom raindrops on my hands.
Rubbing does help! Also, I find ice on the wrist or elbow helpful, and also anti-inflammatories, if you can tolerate them. For the nerve pain, I use a lidocaine patch on my elbow, too (and I'm on Lyrica, which is supposed to help -- not sure it does, though.)
