A blood culture has shown my shaking fevers are down to a gram positive cocci in my blood (came up on a blood culture) ...don't know what yet.

Has anyone else had similar and how was it treated? I am terrified mine is drug resistant as I have taken so many abx yet it is obviously still there.

many thanks for any info
Emma

HI emma,

AW send blood to WT in Italy and I was told I had 'micrococci' or similar (yet was never advised on any treatment to take for it - that was 2.5 years ago).

I wonder if this is the same as you have. Has your LLMD called again now then with definite results since we spoke last?

Go here and scroll to "Chapter 80" to see the abx. of choice:

Hi
DLL :I have no idea if 'micrococci' are the same as cocci. Does anyone else know??

I haven't heard anymore - the lab have still to identify the strain of bacteria.

I'd be interested to know how the little blighters got into my blood in the first place...unless it is enterococcus from a UTI.

Marnie: Thanks for the drug treatment link, I hope this is something that can be treated.

anyone had gram + bacteria show up in a blood culture?

thanks
Emma
