I read that Amoxicillin is less harsh on the liver. Is that why some on the lymies take such high doses? Also, what's the standard dose?

I have been prescribed amoxicillin since i have a lot of neuro lyme symptoms. From reading the board, it seems a lot take incredibly high doses like 25g. So that's what may me wonder about the liver. How does it compare with doxy at 400 mg/day with regards to the liver?

hmmm, my doc has given me amox 500 mg once a day. however, she gave it to me for six months.
i could not tolerate biaxin, destroyed my liver levels. whoa, ammonia was 190.
allergic to fagyl, doxy, and tetra.
so we're starting out low.
so far, joints feel better, hands and feet are not ice cold anymore, and i'm sleeping more than a couple of hours.
not coughing as much, however, still having pain under ribs, neck and lower back.

Hi: I was taking 5,500 mg daily for 2 and 1/2 years, but also added in 275mg Milk Thistle. Did not have one blood test come back high for liver problems.
