Eleutherococcus Senticosus: In Chinese medicine, it was used to prevent respiratory tract infections, colds and flus, as well as increase energy and vitality. It is also known to combat harmful toxins such as ethanol, sodium barbital, tetanus toxoid and chemotherapeutic agents.
And guess what pathogen causes a LOT of ethanol production?
BTW...off subject...
On Wednesday, at two minutes and three seconds after 1:00 in the morning, the time and date will be 01:02:03 04/05/06.
That won't happen again until 3006
Just thought that was an interesting fact.

Marnie,
Great point of interest on the date.
Also, my whole oddesy began because I was trying to get treatment for a chronic cough. I've been saying all along that if I can get rid of Lyme, I bet the cough will be gone too. Little did I know about the ethanol production.
Thanks for the info.

Eleuthero... also known as Siberian Ginseng is the one hubby takes -- may help a little with energy levels.
However, maybe Panax Ginseng or American Ginseng would be better choices -- see the link below titled, "Ginseng's Activity on Neurotransmitter Systems". I got a little lost on how ginseng impacts choline, acetylcholine, acetylcholinesterace ...
If I could ever make it home to my parents farm in West Virginia I could go out in the woods and dig up my own supply. My brothers used to dig ginseng, bloodroot, yellowroot(goldenseal), mayapple, snakeroot, wild ginger and other herbs to sell for spending money when they were in high school.

No hubby does not take bloodroot or mayapple or snakeroot. These are just some things that my brothers used to dig up and sell to herb dealers.
Hubby actually took a prescription med called Reserpine once (derived from snakeroot) and ended up in the psych ward. That's another story and will write more on that later.
Snakeroot is one of a list of about a dozen herbs I recently read about that can kill babesia and/or malaria. Will post the abstact in the next day or two with some additional referneces.

Research "Dr. Weil bloodroot"...
I saw a blurb about this in a book he wrote. It stuck in my mind.
I also heard him on TV years ago now claiming Lions Mane mushroom can heal the myelin sheath (the insulation - cholesterol- around the nerves which is destroyed ultimately in MS).
Beta glucans (mushrooms)...to halt the glycolysis pathway via hydrogen - INactivate PFK...and "starve" a pathogen?...and THEN the body can heal itself.
This is how Cat's Claw works too.
But...Bb takes 2 pathways...the glycolysis and cholesterol pathways.
Need to block those pathways simultaneously.
It can be done. Our body "shows" us how, right off the bat, but we don't have "enough"...it's being blocked - prevented from release.
Our major "detox" organ takes a huge hit right off the bat due to ethanol (from glycolysis) and the drop in choline. Lots of things happen...too much elastase = lung problems because a liver enzyme isn't "available", for example.
Restore the beneficial bacteria AND the organs of "digestion"/"protection"...ya know which one ;-) is the MOST critical. Unfortunately, many DRUGS also need to pass thru this organ too. Yikes.
Be careful with the strong acids though...remember Italy....and what happened.
Too acidic not good. Triggers DNA damage, hello cancer.
Balance...need (normally) a little mineral/glycogen and lots of acids -> hydrogen. Raise the pH...INactivate PFK...
Vitamin E to release hydrogen. CoQ10 to carry it into the cells.
No surprise that E (and A) drop in lyme.
The body is trying to find a way...

I quit taking the siberian Ginseng almost right after I started it. As my skin was burning something fierce, just below my stoma on my illeostomy.
I have finally got it healed after about three weeks.
I am wondering, does anyone know IF this root is STRONG and burns. Or was it just coincidence that it happened the same time?
