I've got 3 more pills in my month's treatment - arg! Achilles tendons and calf muscle pain have all got off the chart. I'll quit right away and tell my LLMD when I see him next week.

Sounds like a bad reaction, I would call the LLMD ASAP.
In general, quinlones have good BBB penetration. That can cause neuropathies and also severe herx reactions.

My nerve pain increased tremendously while I was on Levaquin. It did stop when I was done. One reason it can cause such bad pain is because it gets to the bacteria where other bacteria doesn't.
I personally don't think you should ever stop abx before talking to the doctor who prescribed them. The Lyme can build resistance and grow stronger.
That is of course unless you have an allergic reaction or other severe reaction.
The tendon damage from quinolines is severe but rare. I'm not saying you are safe, but I'm suggesting you call your doctor first. That's all.

FWIW, my LLMD told me that the first instant I started feeling any kind of tendon pain, to immediately stop the Levaquin, which I did, and then got in touch for a fallback plan.

I don't know how rare tendon damage is, but it happened to me and several others who post on this board. Three years later, no improvement. Didn't rupture, but something bad obviously occurred.
Not sure how you tell the difference between herx and side effects of drugs. Everything about this disease is tricky.

I stopped the Levaquin day before yesterday - had 3 pills (out of 30) left. Today feeling much better! MStill ahve tendon pain and calf muscle "cramping" feeling AND the burning/ice cold skin with shooting pain in right thigh - BUT all at a much lower level.
I see my LLMD in a week and will discuss it wiht him then.
Maybe I'll take my last 3 pills starting Monday and see if the pain increases - then I can tell if it was just a coincidence. MAYBE. I'm a big ckicken!
