I got sick of being sick and all my herx symptoms -- which so far are continuous for me while taking abx. So I decided to take a break. It's been five days. I am --thinking clearer --funny again --more energetic --in significantly less muscle/joint pain --able to read and comprehence --not so dam exchausted all the time --not crying out of the blue for no reason --able to exercise (swim, gentle yoga) --able to meditate --wanting to start working on the second draft of my novel -- I could see that someday I may be able to practice again as a psychologist -- these symptoms don't seem to be permanent ...
I still have --morning shaking chills --limited ability for physical work --some joint and muscle pain --tinnitus
It is reassuring to come out of this dark, terrifying symptomatic herx hole. It means my tx is working, and many of the worst symptoms have been due to die=off toxins.
I had to see for myself what was going on. Like many of you, the depressive episodes went away after two days. Amazing!
Next week I will start a new abx regimen. Yuk. I am trying not to dread it. It will bring me back down into that nasty I-can't-get-out-of-bed black hole of Calcutta.
I have been amazed at some of you who are so sick with Lyme but are able to keep functioning. I am not, during this treatment. (And I was not before the tx began. I had already been granted disability.)
I wonder what my doc will say.

About 10 years ago I went off antibiotics and fully expected to die, here I am, still messed up, but at least 50% better than I was then. I did 18 months of anti-biotics, and after all that felt just aweful, finally just said heck with it, and I'm far better now than I was then. However, I still feel not right to sick most of the time, but look healthy as a horse.
I'm not a doctor so don't take this as medical advice rather just a one off situation, but for me, anti-biotics were not working. I felt bad for a long time but have gradually improved and continue to do so ...

Hi Jeff,
I am Rob. I feel your pain re: the herxes, boy do I feel your pain!
The first few months of Tetracycline were a living hell for me! It sucked so baly to be suffering so greatly!
I am now making progress. Each day I feel good, but not near 100%, but I press on...
Like I have a choice! I will soon start Biaxin/Plaq until I can get to see another LLMD for a second opinion re: co-infects...
I too take breaks, but only for about 60 hours. Then I get back on the Tetra....

I was off Flagyl because I had a stomach virus and the herx symptoms I've had for 14 months abated.
I have been off abx before, and nothing good has ever come of it. Eventually I get sicker.
I am now on Levaquin until my bladder infection clears up. I've had a very, very mild herx on it.

Read the editorial review. Wow. Paperback issue is less expensive.
Rhodiola balances the HPA axis (hypothalmus - pituitary - adrenal glands), which Lyme disregulates.
My stamina is improving on it.

Years ago, I was ill but didn't know about Lyme yet. I was on abx for over a month and felt terrible the whole time. After going off abx I had a remission of most of my symptoms for about 4 years. After the 4 years I crashed big time.
My mom (who has the same symtpoms as I do) was on abx for a couple of months, felt terrible the whole time, went off and said she had the best 3 months that she's had in years. Unfortunately, the symptoms did come back.
Makes sense that it is the herx making one feel bad on the abx and when you temporarily go off, you can finally see that you have made some progress. Terry
