Hi,

What is the difference between Biaxin, the generic, and Biaxin XL? Itchy armpits.

Is taking a shot of Nyquil at night a good idea, maybe 4 hours after my evening dose?

Does Biaxin make you lose sleep?

Do you get a fuzzy head feeling?

Anything else you want to tell me would be great!

I am losing sleep from being on this med, maybe the plaq. too... My legs are vibrating like crazy, stronger vibrations, burning, pain, fatigued from lack of sleep, fatigue in general.

Really thinking of stopping this against LLMD's wishes, and going back to Tetra.....

Thanks,

It very well could be a herx.

Ive had increased muscle twitching, brain fog, pain, lost sleep is a big one.

You would think that you wouldnt lose sleep if your tired, but all the pain keeps you from getting good rest.

Watch out for the plaquenil to it can have strange side effects.

The plaquenil does increase the biaxin in the blood though. I noticed with me it made my mouth have more of that mettalic taste.

Did you have any herx effects on the Tetra?

Hi,

I am stil taking Biaxin. The only difference I am told between the generic and the XL is that the XL is extended release but they have the same chemical makeup.

I have been on Biaxin about 4 weeks and would have to agree that it could be a herx. I herxed at leasted 3 or 4 times, or at least it felt like it. Your lack of sleep could be the Lyme itself. I take Ambien and have tried going to 1/2 a pill. Last night went good, I took 1/2 then I drank my sleepytime valerian tea and two calcium pills. All this together seemed to work fabulous but everyone is different. Good luck to you and let us know how things go. [Smile]

boston,

plaquinal (sp?) can cause a kind of tendonitis in the joints, especially ankles. some people here refer to it as nerve pain. i think it's an inflamation of the tendons.

it can occur very quickly and so it's important to monitor and tell your llmd who should be aware of this dangerous side effect.

i think it can be irreversible or nearly so.

i had it in my ankle after about a month or so and was taken off of it.

i'm fine now, but it took quite a while for it to settle down and i was even clumsier than usual and ended up spraining my ankle.

some people have no side effects. hopefully, you will be one of them.

best,
hopeful123

Hey Rob,

When I did Biaxin, I also couldn't sleep. I felt really wired the whole time. Biaxin XL is for extended release... make sure you don't try to split the pill.

Best wishes!

Check the side effects here:

I vote for herxing. If you want to get well, tough it out. [Hopefully, your dr believes in backing off severe herxes...?]

Biaxin has all sorts of side effects that F up your sleep (bad dreams, foul metalic taste in your mouth etc..).

I would think its more of a getting used to the abx, took a while for me. No improvement for me on Biaxin but my case is slightly different to yours, I hear all good things about Biaxin. My friend was on it for 7 months, fixed him right up.
