For those who have survived meningitis, how do you know it is coming on? I have been feeling sort of weird for the past 2 days, like my head is tingly and pressure-filled. My neck is feeling a bit tight, but not so much stiff, and i could touch my chin to my chest. I don't have a headache.

I do not yet have a lyme diagnosis, but I am planning on getting tested through igeneX. Meningitis really scares me.

I just feel off, like whoozy and jerky and cracky. I must mention i am on zithromax and was taking 1tsp . colloidal silver for the past 3 days for strep. I stopped the silver. I am sure it may just be a herx and not meningitis, i would think the onset would be a lot more severe and not just a feeling of getting out of a crowded elevator.

Thanks,
Michelle

Hubby has not actually had meningitis, but has had other severe neurological problems.

In my opinion, if you have to ask the question, then you do not have meningitis.

You would probably have a high fever and a really killer headache IF you were conscious. Extreme sensitivity to light and probably very bad mental confusion would also be present.

The symptoms you are describing are "normal" Lyme symptoms or symptoms of other tick-borne coinfections. The off-balance kind of feeling could be caused by babesia.

How soon is your appointment with your LLMD? The waiting can really get on your nerves.

Having had Lyme meningitis (diagnosed with a positive spinal tap), I can tell you the symptoms are not subtle. Also, I had them for quite some time and did survive, so don't spend anymore time freaking yourself out.

I had a headache that literally made me want to smash my head open on my brick fireplace. It was unrelenting. I also had something called pernicious vomiting which was caused by the infection in my brain. I had bilateral positive Babinski signs (a reflex in your foot, bilateral means I had something wrong with both sides of my brain), and a low grade fever. And, as I said, I had a positive spinal tap, and the pressure measured during the tap, was sky-high (you can't "feel" the pressure btw, it manifests in physical symptoms).

So, in short, I'd rest easy in the meningitis department.

I felt kind of "off" earlier in the day with a mild headache that rapidly became unbearable, and a fever that shot up to 104 with shaking chills and vomiting. Couldn't lift my head up off the pillow. The headache and fever were telltale -- as was the bull's eye rash on my left thigh. Lyme meningitis. Nope, it isn't subtle at all.
