Yes, the bugs are getting the upper hand. That is what we should be getting excited about - mad about - doing something about? rather than just complaining about doctors and insurance companies. How many of you are driving gas guzzlers?

Hi all

Gobal warming is Serious -For Sure --
I saw a report about Moose that were
being killed by flies and misquetos--
The bugs multiplied big time because
of the warmer weather and just
over wellmed them --

I knew this was going to happen --
the signs have been clear for
15 yrs at least --

In Austin 2 weeks ago it was 100
degrees for 2 days --beat the records
for those days by 15 degrees-- Ouch --

Im a real Green person-
I have only driven a car about 4000 miles
in 15 yrs --I could see what was going
to happen and I dont want to take part
in it--

I have ridden my bicycles to 80% of the
things I do --ride the bus 15%--
8% get thing delievered UPS ect.
and 2% in a car--

I think riding my bike helped save my
life too - sure helped me stay in shape--
I easily look 15 yrs younger than
my sisters and there husbands --

It could be that I have been mostly
layed out in bed for 20 yrs tho (gravity thing)

I use the compact florence lights--
and have for 5 years--the first one I
bought cost $12 -now there $1 or $2--

If you change out all your regular lights
with compact florence -you Will see the
differance on your eletric bill instantly --

These bulbs put out Much less heat -
so this lowers your cooling cost too --

They last as long or longer that a
standard light bulb --

Also unplug your chargers for cell
phones -cameras -ect-(wall wart)
I hook chargers to a power strip that
has a switchand turn them off when
not in use --

I also covered my fridge with 2 inch
thick styrofoam--made a Huge difference --

The fridge used to come on every 15
minutes or so - now it comes on once
in 90 minutes or longer --

I got into the habbit of
shuting off the lights when
I leave the room --Everytime--
Dont even have to think about it now -

If you are using standard bulbs
doing this can save alot of juice --

I also turned off my central air-
and use window cooling units --

New A/C are Much more effecient-
and cheep to buy--

Panasonic makes a Really Cool
window unit that only covers
4 inches in the window--
the compressor hangs down below-
and is out of the way- Very Quiet too--

I only fire up my water heater
when I need it --

I also switched to propaine--
one 24 lbs tank will warm up
about 22 loads of water --

In Austin there is a program
called -Green Choice --Very Cool--

I signed up 8 yrs ago--
I pay $4 a month extria -
and the city put this money
into buying Wind Generators--

Austin now ownes a over hunderd
of them now and there Awsome --
A big one only cost $1 millon -Cheap-

One large wind genartor can
supply 400 homes with Juice --

My eletric cost is also locked
for 11 years -- sweet --

Here is one eletric waster that
no one thinks about is the
transformer for your door bell--

Look at yours and touch the
transformer and see if it is Hot--
I bet it is -
Heat equals wasted energy --

When you think about it --
how often dose your door bell
ring in ten years -
maybe 3 mniutes total --

Replace the old transformer with
a new effecent one $6 - takes 5 minuter

The transformer runs 24x7

I turned my door bell off-
Knocking on the door is much
Greener --

Lcd computer screens use only
40 watts versise around 150 watts for
a regular computer monitor--

Much Eaiser on the eyes too --

In the winter - or whats left of it-
I use a eletric blanket and
small eletric ceramic space
heaters in the room Im in -
I stay nice and toastie--

It is estimated that 10% of All
air polutionin the US is caused by Lawn
care equipment--Mowers- Leif Blowers ect --

Leif blowers are a Huge waist--
People just blow stuff around
instead of using a broom--
and taking care of things properly

Besides causing air polution
They also increase the amount of
Dust in the air -Asma
-Not very smart --

Buy eletric lawn equipment--
Vastily more effecient --
and Much Quieter too --

My neibors on both sides of my
home have there yards mowed twice a week-
- Ouch -
Perty much every morning I get woken
up by the drown of lawn equipment--
Not a good way to start the day -

I Zira scaped my yard so I use
perty much Zero water on my yard--
I dont even know where my water hose is-

My eletric bill is around $22 a month
including the $4 I pay to Green Choice --

I perty much do the things I want to
do and it gives me a good Feeling too --

I bought $20 of gasoline about 1 year ago
and I still have most of it-
My car has spider webs on it --LoL

So air up the tires on your bicycle--
go out for a ride - smell the flowers-
and the leif blowers fumes and
have a good time--Jay--
