My Igenex lab, only showed one ++ band that was 41. But because i have lots of symptoms, Dr. decided to start me of with 2000 mg of Cefuroxime. I'm having a hard time taking that much.
Also concerned that he is only treating with anitibiotics, and not addressing other problems.
I was previously diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue syndrome, i feel my hormones are really messed up.

Maybe you should see an endocrinologist for that problem; don't think an ID is going to be much help there.

Why are you having a hard time taking that much...

If it is stomach problems, there are many other meds that you can take that may be better on your stomach.

I have had to change meds before for that reason.

Also if your dr. doesnt treat you long enough please find a new one.... I only say this because I personally have had BAD expereinces with infectious disease drs.

Best wishes

It's just fear and anxiety, Azure.
I'm afraid of putting anything in my body, that's not food.
I have a had time with advil for pete's sakes!
I read all the side effects, and overdose info.
We live way out in the boonies, if a person need emergencey help, it might take awhile.
My husband's gone alot.
I break up the pill, and force myself to take some, then have a mental battle with my emotions.
I'm suppose to take some now, but i've felt funky all day, my head hurts, and i feel like quick sand. I've felt funky all day since i took my first whole pill this morning.
I just to an asprin, no of course i will be afraid to mix them.
The last month i've been feeling better (some) on my own, i'm afraid abx. is going to put me back to where i was. Not Good.

morning:

I hear you! Abx is scary stuff. I have a very hard time with most of them. My IDMD recognized this early on and we had better success with IV and IM abx. The orals always made me feel toxic and sick to my stomach.

Being out in the boonies is tough if you choose the IV or IM route. I would suggest (and it is just a suggestion) that you ramp up slowly on your oral meds to point of tolerance. There is no reason to be miserable and emotionally drained because of a pill. Talk to your MD and see if you can work out a gentle, slow-going plan that might be less stressful for you. These meds are tough to handle.

I did 2 grams of Cefuroxime (sp) a day, but I did it via IV. I tried it orally and felt awful at that dose, couldn't get more than 800mgs in me at a time.

Thanks beachcomber,
Wish i could be on the beach with no worries!
I'm suprised you could even read my post from last night! Was really losing my cognitive abilities there! Whole body was in sloooow motion, finally ended up with a migraine last night.
I asked Dr. if i could start low, and work up cause i knew i would have so much trouble.
He said he wanted me to start it all at once so i didn't make super bugs! Alway, gotta scare ya!

Well I just can't do it, but i'm trying the best i know how. I took 1/2 (a pill) again this morining and yea stomach is hurting, plan to take other 1/2 at noon and 1/2 more at bed. If all goes well that will be the most i've taken yet.
And still not quite 1/2 of my whole dosage.
The worst thing i don't know if how i'm feeling is just symptoms, wasn't feeling the best before i started med. two days ago, or if it's from the med.? Fatigued, and head pressure, heavy pressure all over, hot and cold, numbness. Granted i have felt like this in the past, but not for a while. Wrapped in wet cement! Thinking very unclear.
Okay, sorry for the whine!

Whine away. This disease stinks & the meds do to. So, feel free to whine. My family asked me last summer to suck it up and stop whining. I did. I rarely mention how crummy I feel when they are around. Somehow, it makes things a little easier for them and for me. I just curl up on the couch and they leave me alone. If they don't, they know I will start whining. Its win/win.

My poor nurse and MD get the full out whine once a week. It is cathartic.

Keep in mind that the dr in MO treats Lyme and handles the hormone issues as well.

You may want to see him when your ID dr decides "you're finished."

Hope you feel better soon!! [Smile]

You said your symptoms got worse and you have old symptoms returning after you started your abx...

Well maybe you are herxing....

Herxing is a reaction to all the lyme keets dying in us..

With a herx your old symptoms can come back and/or cuurent ones can get worse and/or you can get new symptoms.

- Just a thought.

As to the side effects of abx... I understand your concern.... but in my opinion as someone who has lived with lyme for a considerable amount of time... the side effects to the abx are nothing compared to the devastion that the lyme can do if not treated adequated.

I agree with lymetoo... If you still have symptoms when your id dr decides to cut you off...

find yourself a llmd.... I have heard only good things about the one she reccomended.

Best wishes
