A few weeks ago I found a lab that does broth cultures and also allows for the culture to sit for more then the standard 2-3 days.

They found Strep D on the urine culture but not the broth culture. From what i can tell from the results it appears to be a slight infection as it was positive but negative under the in range section.

But Cipro is listed as intermediate on the abx list. Amoxy and doxy are sensitive.

So this may also be why i have results with the cipro. Yesterday and today off cipro i have felt worse...UTI type symptoms for sure.

I was feeling so much better, now im bad again even lost all the weight i had gained. Im so pale to. :-(

Hi can'tgiveupyet

I get these bladder problems too and wondered what lab did the broth culture? What is Strep D?
Before my test showed enterococcus (new name for strep f.)

I am the same as you in that when I come off Cipro my bladder symptoms can come back and I get ill /go pale.

I have to take Quercetin for my bladder inflammation (dr B's advice), twice daily as I keep getting WBC's in urine. Thought this might help you too.

My friend swears by Lakewood Cranberry juice but I don't think I can buy that here.

Hi Emma,

it was done at untied medical labs in virginia.

From my research strep D is a strepococci(sp) bacteria usually found in the GI tract and can cause UTI's.

is Quercetin a prescription? I have WBC in my urine all the time now.

cranberry juice hurts my bladder...be careful its really acidic.

Hey cantgiveupyet,
I am sorry things aren't looking up for you. Quercitin is not a prescription. Here are some sites where you can get it:

quercitin-bromelain complex from douglas labs
www.douglaslabs.com

quercitin/bromelain complex from pro health
www.immunesupport.com

there are some drug that you can't take this with so read up before you get some.

Dose is 200-400mg 3x/day.

I got this info from LLMD.

I wish you the best,
Kristen

Hi Can'tgiveupyet

Quercetin is an antioxidant/antinflammatory...I was told to take 500mg x 2 daily. I would not get the bromelain mix one if you are going to try it (may cause irritation and potentiate abx).

I don't think it treats the cause but helps the symtpoms...like you I got another infection which I can't shake off (after 3 years being IC free!).

I'll need to get a culture done again too to see what the bugs are sensitive to.

Do post when you start treatment - how long do you have to take amoxy or doxy for?
