I am taking a liver detox supplement right now that my acupuncturist has me on. I wonder if that is whats causing all this horrible skin pain to suddenly flare up??

What else can I do to detox with it?

Just a note to anyone trying to keep their bodies detoxed...do NOT use a lotion with petroleum or mineral oil.

It is like wrapping your skin with plastic wrap. The skin is an organ that regulates body temperature and aids the liver in detox.

Did you know we are the only country in the world that uses petroleum products in our cosmetics? It's outlawed in all other countries due to it's effect on the body.

We're battling enough, we don't need to add another toxin to our overworked bodies.

"Maybe I need more detoxing?" You answered your own question - I think you do.

Someone mentioned colonics. That would be my suggestion also, several of them with several days in between. Lymph drainages will help you move some of the toxins. And possibly finding a practitioner or naturopath who is knowledgable.
I don't think you need another Rx.

Hope you find someone good to guide you.

I am the Queen of needing detox. Using the podi patches. Mine have yet to turn a lighter color. Colonics will be next. Still looking for acdditional methods. Patches have been helpful.

Epsom salts baths might help -- cheap and easy to do. Epsom salts is magnesium sulfate. You absorb the magnesium which you need and the sulphur helps with detox plus the sweating as well.

Start slow as these may make you weak or cause herx reactions initially. Start with 1/2 cup epsom salts in the tub or add it to a pail of water and just soak your feet. Your body will only absorb as much magnesium as you need. Work up to 3 or 4 cups of epsom salts per bath.

You want the water warm, but again gradually increase the water temp as you get used to these baths. Start with 10 minutes or so and work up to 20 -30 minutes. If you start feeling bad -- get out ASAP.

The skin pain could also be a sign of a B vitamin deficiency -- especially B12.

I agree with GiGi that lymphatic massages may be helpful -- depending on skin sensitivity and toxicity you may herx or need to go slow with these as well. Redroot tincture is very good for lymphatic drainage also -- 30 drops (1 dropperful) 2 or 3 times a day.

This is not medical advice, but just my opinion based on hubby's experiences.

Epsom salts are available at any drugstore or many grocery stores or department stores like Walmart or Kmart.

I know Arbonne is good, you can buy that online. A health food store might have lotions without mineral oil. Just read the labels.

A woman my husband works with just lost a grand daughter to SIDS. I would be very curious to know how many of those babies were covered in baby oil (pure mineral oil, which is motor oil)

Does anyone remember the Bond film Goldfinger? The women died by having their skin painted...it smothered them, no release of toxins.

Sweat, sweat, sweat. My daughter rides a recumbant bike for 10 minutes to get her heart rate up, then gets in a hot bath. It gets her through the day.

I do get body massages. It flares me up big time every time but I still feel its worth it.

Now heres something crazy. I read through my medical journal. The last time I had a bad flare up of skin pain happened to also be last May-very same time of the year!

I wonder then if the heat has anything to do with it too? I mean this all started up as well after spending quite a bit of time outside-getting hot, sweating,etc.

If so, then that would spell a release of toxins right? Im just trying to work this all out.

Sweating does release toxins, but also causes loss of electrolytes. Hubby has borderline low sodium levels even while taking Florinef (an antidiuretic).

You might want to consider additional mineral supplements -- magnesium, calcium, potassium and/or sodium. Could be a factor in increased symptoms during hot weather.

Undoubtedly it is a release of toxins, as you say.
Your efforts should be directed toward liver support remedies, kidney support remedies, no massage because it releases more, but colonics and lymph drainages. (Lymph drainages are not a massage; they are done so gently, you can hardly feel the therapist's hands. Anything that feels stronger is not a lymphatic drainage treatment. And making certain that your elimination is okay and very regular.

If you ever do a colonic, and see it in action, you will be amazed at the toxic bile, also called liver dumps, yeast, etc. that you will eventually release, and will wonder how you ever were able to get out of bed in the morning with that in your body. Often the big release does not happen with the first colonic. It often takes more than one.

Every time you get an acupuncture treatment, you are releasing more toxins into the system. That is the purpose of acupuncture. And sometimes, the body just has enough and can't deal with it any longer. The result is pain and misery.

Coffee enemas are also good, but will not come close to what a professional colonic does.

When I used to be in your shoes, I took chlorella, chitosan, cholestyramine, pectin, Betasitosterol, maybe charcoal for a week, tons of electrolytes, and phosphatidyl choline valuable for liver health. We cannot detox anything without electrolytes, because the electric network is dysfunctional (like a short in the wiring).

Of course, as Bea said, bathing etc. will help, but it is like trying to kill a ten-ton monster with a slingshot. The quicker you can get the toxic debris out of your body, the sooner you can go back to healing. If the body is not strong enough to throw it out by itself, the toxins will be reabsorbed into the system.

N, Arise & Shine is the one I did way back then. It has to be done as recommended, or it will be incomplete.

There are many other colon and liver cleanses.
Do a search on yahoo for "colon cleanse and liver cleanse". You will get links to choose from. Some may fit your pocketbook.

Do a search on yahoo for vodder lymph drainage techniques. I have seen some sites that give you some basic instructions how to attempt a lymphatic drainage yourself. My husband used to do it for me, I did it for him. It is easily learned. But we still would get an occasional lymph treatment when we went through a 'thick' detox phase. It just helps to get over the hump.

Be sure to get enough Phosphotidyl Choline. It's T H E liver saver. The benefits are many. Buy yourself a pound of lecithin from Starwest for about $12.00 - it will go a long way, but as a starter the liquid capsules will have a stronger impact. I saw a good write-up about it recently - If I find it I will add it below.

Soy Lecithin has a natural, nutty taste so you can enjoy Lecithin as a daily food supplement in many different ways...Sprinkle it on cottage cheese, yogurt, granola or cereal. Blend it with orange juice or your favorite nutrition beverage. Add it to fresh salads, fruit or mix with salad dressings. Use it to enhance soups, breads or other baked goods.

Lecithin is a fat-like substance called a phospholipid. It is produced daily by the liver, if the diet is adequate. It's needed by every cell in the body and largely makes up cell membranes; without it, they would harden.

Our soy lecithin is a mixture of fatty substances that are derived from the processing of soybeans. Studies show most soy-allergic individual can safely eat products containing soy lecithin without experiencing any allergic reactions.

Soy Lecithin provides a naturally-occurring combination of Phosphatidyl Choline and other valuable phospholipids.

Just one tablespoon supplies a rich source of Choline (approx. 250 mg), almost as much as one egg, but without the cholesterol!

Lecithin is important in preventing arteriosclerosis and assisting in protecting against cardiovascular disease. Lecithin protects cells from oxidation, and helps make up the protective sheaths surrounding the brain.

Using lecithin can improve brain function and has also been known to promote energy. Lecithin is manufactured in the body by choline and inositol. It is composed largely of B vitamins, phosphoric acid, choline, linoleic acid and inositol. Lecithin is high in phosphorous and unites with iron, iodine and calcium.

W.S. Hartroff, M.D., Ph.D., reported in the American Journal of Public Health that the lack of choline was found to head infants toward high blood pressure. Furthermore, it has been found that a choline deficiency induced tendency to high blood pressure can not be reversed. Interestingly enough, human milk contains lecithin while cow's milk does not.

Lecithin aids in the absorption of thiamine by the liver and is needed to help repair the damage to the liver caused by alcoholism.

Although it is a fatty substance, it is also a fat emulsifier--lecithin enables fats, such as cholesterol, to be dispersed in water and removed from the body. Hence, it also supports the circulatory system by preventing fatty buildup in the arteries and vital organs.

Without sufficient lecithin, the body cannot utilize the fat soluble vitamins A,D, E, and K. Lecithin improves the digestion and utilization of these vitamins.

When a person exercises regularly to improve their muscle tone, the amount of lecithin contained in the muscles increases. This increase in muscle lecithin is in part responsible for the greater endurance of the muscle.

Dr. H. Dietrich of Texas has found that often a diabetic's insulin requirements are reduced when lecithin is added to the diet.

Psoriasis is apparently due, at least in part to a faulty utilization of fat and is usually accompanied by a high cholesterol level. Generally, with 3 to 5 tablespoons of lecithin granules per day cholesterol goes down and psoriasis clears up.

At Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York, Dr. David A. Druling found that in patients with gallstones, gallstone attacks were cut in half by taking 13 grams of lecithin a day (a tablespoonful is 7.5 grams). Also, the size of gallstones were greatly reduced in one patient.

Researcher Lehninge, in his book 'Biochemistry,' found that proper function of the sex glands and improved sexual function in general are often attributed to a good amount of lecithin in the diet.

Choline assists detoxification reactions in the liver. Although choline can be synthesised by the body from methionine, recent evidence indicates that choline is an essential nutrient.

Many of choline's effects have a lot more to do with digestion than with brain function. Yet there are components of lecithin that seem to play a critical role in nerve function - and our brains, of course, are nothing more or less than elaborate, busy nerves making interesting connections.

Lecithin forms naturally in all living cells of the body, and acts as an emulsifier. It helps keep fatty substances in bile, which is essentially a kind of juice produced by your liver. When lecithin is doing all it should, it also eases digestion and helps your body absorb valuable nutrients.

Lecithin also helps to maintain the structural integrity of cells, says Steven Zeisel, MD, Ph.D., professor and chair of the department of nutrition at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. 'Without lecithin, nothing would survive, because you wouldn't be able to separate the various compartments within cells, nor would you be able to separate cells from each other.'
Lecithin also serves as a source of messengers used to help control blood pressure and regulate insulin, the all-important hormone that helps unlock cells so that blood sugar can be absorbed for energy. Without lecithin - derived messengers helping to co-ordinate these activities, many cells would be at a loss about what to do. 'You wouldn't have the ability to send proper signals,' notes Dr. Zeisel. 'Everything would grind to a halt.'

Multiple sclerosis patients have significantly less lecithin in the brain and myelin sheath than normal person. The autopsies also show that the lecithin that is present in the brain and myelin sheath of these multiple sclerosis victims is essentially composed of all saturated fatty acids and no unsaturated fatty acids. Multiple sclerosis is also known to have a much higher incidence in countries where the diet is high in saturated fats.

The liver exports fat. To do that, it must wrap the fat in an envelope containing lecithin and certain proteins. When lecithin is unavailable, no envelope can be made, and fat accumulates in the liver. Liver cells low in lecithin fill up with fat and then die. Closely related to the way lecithin benefits the liver is the way it helps to prevent gallstones.

I found this article (above) at the Shamanshop. They carry the Lecithin powder.

The very expensive IV Patricia Kane protocol's major ingredient is Essentiale N, a phospholipid made from soy, invented in Russia, financed by the French, produced in Germany (if she uses the best one).
The next step in that direction is Phospholipid Exchange, which we used. That covers all - as well as the heavy metal and other detox agents. I posted about it a couple of days ago. It is a power house and one of my doctor's major "weapons" for getting toxins out, clearing the brain, and repairing.

Every night I spend 30 minutes in a steam/sauna tent with oxygen/ozone blown into the tent through a tube using an oxygen generator. I get the temperature anywhere from 113 to 120 degrees.

If you do a search on here, Bev Feldman helped my husband set everything up.

I believe the oxygen and ozone are very helpful as they get into the pores and help kill and release the toxins.

The tent I use is the www.promolife.com and if you scroll down the one I use sits over a massage table and it covers all but your head.
I really like it and think it does wonders for my herxing from the Rife machine.
