Please everyone, i need help fast. can't get in to see llmd until next week. I've been on amoxy 3 times a day for months. lately, about the last week or so here are my symptoms:
1. every time i take a pill about an hour or so later, i start getting numb on right side of face, tongue feels like it is swelling and it's hard to breathe. having difficulty swallowing too.
2. eye pain is getting worse
3. ear pressure is getting much worse.
4. am now getting very sleepy during the day and having a hard time staying awake.
5. face and neck are now hotter than heck
I've tried biaxin (gave me nightmares, hallucinations, etc), major allergic to doxy and tetra.
so she said doxy is my last shot.
is this a herx or am i getting allergic to amoxy too??
I am doing mustard foot detox soaks, epsom salts in baths and all those things.
i bought some of Dr. J's pale spike lobelia and have been trying to get rid of ammonia.
i really need some help....should i stop the amoxy until i get in to see her? i'm amost afraid to keep taking it and ending up in the ER. geez, i can't afford to have another doctor tell me that I shouldn't be there and to go home....

I'm not sure if that's an allergic reaction or not but it could be. I would stop the meds if it were me. There are lots of other antibiotics to try so don't worry.
You should probably have benadryl on hand and a shot for anaphylatic shock to be on the safe side. I have them for my bicillin shots and carry them in my purse. You can develop allergies to penicillin type antibiotics at any time.
You could go to the store and buy benadryl caplets right away and take one once you feel the symptoms of swollen tongue and difficulty breathing start.
You could also have the flu. Alot of these symptoms sound like the flu I just had.
You didn't like biaxin. I've found that zithromax was very different from biaxin for me. They are in the same family but they reacted very differently for me.

Hubby used to have me give him his IV Ativan before he went into doctor's appointments -- finally convinced him that it was better to be symptomatic and let the doc's (at least LLMD's)actually see the symptoms -- tremors, myoclonus, Bell's Palsy etc.
Why don't you take your medicine about an hour before your appointment and then your doc can see your shortness of breath etc. If you are worried about driving after taking the med, just get to the appointment an hour early and wait in the waiting room -- could ask the nurse to take pulse and blood pressure when you first arrive before you take the amoxy.
This is just my opinion and not medical advice.

Hi,
Sorry to hear that you are having a hard time on the Amox.
You mentioned that you can't take dioxy or biaxin.
I do not understand why your doctor says that you have no other choices. There are many different anibiotics that are now being used to treat lyme and co-infections. Am I missing something?

I would stop until I could talk to or see LLMD. I wouldn't play around with swelling or difficulty breathing or assume that is herxing.
