Could be yeast Are you on a no sugar low carb diet? Do you take probiotics?
Might want to ask your doc about some thrush meds to take for a while and see if it doesn't clear up. Thrush can give throat pain when upper GI yeast/thrush is involved.
And may also want to ask for a throat culture too.
Take care

Not every overgrowth on the tongue is yeast. I noticed that I have a furry tongue some 2,5 years ago. I was convinced it is yeast - because everybody on this board says so - so I saw no need to have it checked.
I tried every mean under the sun to get rid of my "yeast": strict diet, Nystatin, Diflucan, oregano oil, herbs, spices, GSE, probiotics - name it. I had absolutely NO SUCCESS !
Two weeks ago I had a probe of the coating taken. They cultured it for 2 weeks and yesterday I got the result: NO YEAST - NO BACTERIA - NADA !
The doc has also no idea what it is.
The positive side is: due to my paranoid yeastophobia it seems that I also don't have yeast in my gut, my blood, my urine, etc.

yes i agree. that is why i wanted to see some other opinions. not everything can be chalked up to yeast.
i have been on the strictest of diets for a very long time now. and have been doing everything under the sun to beat candida after long term antibiotic use for acne not for lyme.
even my naturopath told me he does not think i have as much of as a yeast problem as i think i do and that true oral thrush is a big white raised splotch that can be scraped off. this is not what i have. i have been detoxing for a loooong time and i do not think this is yeast.
i have also seen oral thrush photos and it is NOT what my tongue looks like at all. mine is more of a film and i did test positive for an overgrowth of citrobacter freundii when i got a comprehensive stool analysis.
it may have something to do with the tongue problems. i think in general if you have food allergies, or any type of digestive problems, it can cause issues with your tongue, breath, etc.
i don't know but i will see what the llmd thinks about it when i talk to him.
