Yeah---I am on a roll here huh? posting like mad.
sorry.

here's my scoop: ((my poop scoop))

4 years ago I tool artemesia unnua for babs but could only take it for 3 weekscoz it caused the MOST intense and constant diareah I have EVER had in my life.

I started taking artemisinin this past month. I started it about the same time as CSM (cholestyromine, questran). CSM is used to sort of treat C diff and is usually associated with severe constipation. It will clog you up really badly.

I had NO constipation with CSM. In fact I had to go to the bathroom as soon as I opened my eyes in the morning and completely emptied every day with nice soft stools. DOnt picture it, just listen, kay? [Big Grin]

I had to stop the CSM for my surgery. I just started the artemisinin 2 days ago again without the CSM and I am having the WORST diareah of my life again.

Of course this could be from surgery and LOTS of other things, but my big question to everyone is:

have any of you experienced diareah while taking artemisinin?

you guys are just my best buds right now!

I have taken Artemisinin and Artemisia annua and have NOT had diarrhea with either of them. And I have an illeostomy and am VERY sensitive to everything. Chocolate gives me diarrhea big time.
As do other foods.

Either you are allergic or maybe you are taking OTHER things like abx that are reacting to it.

Hi,

Artemisia or wormwood, in addition to its babs fighting properties, is an extremely potent anti-parasitic, and one can get the runs quite easily due to die-off from intestinal parasites. Wheee! What fun! I laugh because I've been there.

so if I have intestinal parasites and the art is giving me diareah, should I just continue to take it and will it clear the parasites?

Why wouldnt I have any symptoms of intestinal parasite otherwise?

That's hard to say. One problem with the diarreah is that it can get quite bad, i.e. intestinal herx bad, which can end up doing more harm than good.

Once I knew I had parasites, I went on a mission to eradicate them, which in retrospect I think was a mistake. When our bodies are run down and unhealthy, as gross as this sounds, parasites actually help in that they (gross gross gross) eat necrotic or dying tissue and other waste products.

Disturbing the balance can just throw everything off and make you sick, etc. with the runs and no better off than before and sometimes worse.

That said, if you need the art, maybe you can titrate up? I know that after 2-3 weeks the little buggies can get used to the art and it will no longer be effective in killing them as much (the intestinal buggies, that is, not sure about the others).

I have found in my experience that with Lyme, it does not pay to have the body go through trauma, i.e. large intestinal parasite die-off, because I can't get them all, and it weakens my body and they will come back anyway. But, when I'm healthy they will go away on their own -- parasites canot live in a healthy body.
