My LLMD, Dr D, is having me get the Western Blot blood test run today. He is working with my PCP on my case and she has ordered the blood be drawn and sent to Quest. Is this Lab equipped to run such test? Why would they even bother as the diagnosis is a clinical one? How long to get the results? Thank you for your help.

I agree and I emailed Dr D to ask him if this is what he wants me to do but, he's out until the end of the month. I cannot believe he would have this go thru Quest. Should I even bother?

Yes bother quest has a bad rep for lyme it may be good in some states but from the feedback here it isnt?
Mass Cambridge Lab Borrelia b tests list Then they say this Panels and Profiles If you have any questions regarding the individual components of a panel or profile, please cross-reference your hard copy version of Quest Diagnostics Reference Manual or Directory of Services or call your Quest Diagnostics Representative. Tests offered in any Quest Diagnostics panel or profile may be ordered individually using the Quest Diagnostics Test Requisition Form.
So I guess it depends on what igg igm search for in particular and how many 5 versus 10 or 16.
I dont like what they say here. Qoute"Detecting antibodies to the bacteria that cause Lyme disease does not always mean that the infection is active. It merely means that you were infected at one time.BULLSH*T This makes it difficult to distinguish between an active and a past (inactive) infection. The polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test may determine whether an active Lyme disease infection is present."unquote From here: questdiagnostics
And theres this: SmithKline sold their testing for Lyme to Quest. Therefore do not use Quest labs for the testing for Lyme. OspC is associated with neurotropism (goes after the brain and nerves).
Effectively, as a result of the CDC's Dearborn Conference in 1994, this left OspA, B, and C out of the testing standard performed by SmithKline- the primary immunodominant antigens. That means if you have any f those anybodies, you cannot get a diagnosis of "Lyme Disease," - even though they are the "primary immunodomuninant antigens." SmithKline sold their testing for Lyme to Quest. Therefore do not use Quest labs for the testing for Lyme.

Thank you all for the responses and information. I had my blood drawn yesterday and they are sending it to Quest. Now I just have to wait for the results and for my LLMD to get back from vacation.
