Last semester I was suffering untrue vertigo. There was no spinning, yet there was light headedness and a sensation of altitude changes.

This went away right before taking doxy (I am on week 5 at 300 mg) and now it is back. I feel better otherwise but have had no true herxeimers.

Suggestions?

Also, my ears crawl and itch inside constantly. I unfold small paper clips and scratch them and try to remove debris.

Please advise.

Sounds like it could be herx.

Itchy ear canals was one of my earliest symptoms.

I have the not-really-vertigo lightheadedness feeling too, along with nausea and headache. It's identical to how I felt at very high altitudes back when I was well. The infection might be causing low oxygen just like high altitude can.

Greetings LCA,

Hubby was just admitted to the local hospital today after a week of head spinning, word slurring, imbalance and disorientation.

We have not really used the Lyme word, the PCP wants to rule out stroke.

It is probably "just" the Lyme, Babs or Erlichia that he has had for almost 3 years, but at least someone is looking.

I can't remember if you had an MRI or Spect scan and were they normal.

It is a common lyme thing, and may come and go.

We are now at the point where I am no longer willing to assume everything is Lyme.

Hang in there.

I have this dizziness and ear itching with a fluid feeling and sometimes pain in the right ear.
I've been to 2 ENTs nothing was found there.
I then had a brain stem evoked response test and this was abnormal. I was told that it was a problem with the ear or brain stem. I then had a tilt table test and passed out in 20 min.
Hypotension was diagnosed, originiating in the brain. I also have thrush for 3 years now and think it is possible that this has spread to my nose and ears. Olive oil in the ear has been the only thing that gave tempory relief from the itching. hope this info. is helpfull in some way. Al

Thanks all,

Wow I feel relieved. I have a salty taste in my mouth, itchy crawling sensations in the ear. I unfold a small paper clip and clean them out. I wonder if this is the cause?
Anyway yes I have multiple round to ovoid foci (lesions) in both cerebral hemispheres that are periventricular (common in LD) and in the corpus collasum. I have a positive (not CDC) Lyme test Western Blot through Igenex.
Everyone here knows that I think that LD is too good to be true for me. I want to believe it, but it just seems so simple to me. MS, the horror ideal of my life, has haunted me for over a year. I wish I did not even know the term. I would rather be Paris Hilton than to understand this stuff.
Please advise me.

It sounds like a herx to me. I was on doxy and it caused ALOT of imbalance.

I have had dizziness, and I have had vertigo ( true vertigo, for five months straight, every dam minute of the day.. and night)

The doxy can cross the bbb if taken at the right dose AND it can ALSO cause ...

intracranial pressure. which may or may not cause that lightheaded feeling you have. Does your head feel like

you are riding up and down in an elevator? got blurry vision? Odd headache? Etc. That can be the intracranial pressure.

or it could be a herx.

Or it could be lyme. Or maybe none of the above.
BUT, it will get better.
